Hand feeding builds trust, respect and organization between my dogs and myself .. it is a two way street. It would be a impractical to hand feed dry kibble. I have no dog food bowls to wash, no spilled food, and no problems using hand feeding of large pieces of raw or sometimes cooked meat. I trust my dogs not to bite me and my dogs trust me to make sure they get a fair and equal portion of food each and every time. Hand feeding is as they say a "team building exercise" for both the human and the dog. For those who fear for their fingers then food bowls are always an option.
