Detection Dog Prices - Page 3

There is another 'cultural' difference here - Police,
Army, Customs etc in the UK seeking dogs to sniff
out explosives / weapons / cash / drugs &c don't
much want Shepherds at all (German or Belgian) -
they want Spaniels (various),Labradors, Pointers ...

With the exception of Labradors, HD & Xrays is less
of consideration. Don't know whether these differences
make any differences to the prices paid.

For donation tax purposes, our single purpose green dogs, with xrays and light ob is 2500 to 3500. Started or finished is obviously more. These are home bred dogs... even if I sold them for that amount, I wouldn't always break even.

I provide such dogs and it depends on:
If the dog is finished or green
What breed,
Is he certified or I should say is the certification for the detection team provided with some nationally recognized organization.
Is the dog dual or single purpose.
How many odors and what kind of odors. Some new by terrorist used explosives are very volatile and hard to find for training.....
How good the dog is,
How old the dog is.
Does the dog come with training transferring the dog on a handler or not and
In that case then how experienced is the handler.
Is there contract to maintain training.
I would say that all this is in a  price range of $5500- $15000 and IMO anything outside of that range is red flag.
