Correct, I don't have any problem 'picking out' stupid ASSUMPTIONS.

So, if a person who commits mass murders usually kills themselves anyways, how do you guys figure a good guy with a gun is going to deter them in the first place? Most mass murders are committed by a loved one, how is your gun going to stop that?

'stupid ASSUMPTION' is not a person being called stupid, it is the ASSUMPTION being called stupid. It is easy for a reasonable person to 'pick out' stupid assumptions. If you want to make a good impression on 'people coming here', don't post 'murder on' aimed at me, or 'assume' I want to use my 'itty bitty guns against a tyrranical government'. Ot that I claimed/believe my guns will deter a mass murderer 'in the first place'...that's another stupid assumption. Derterant isn't appropriate for a person in the act of mass murder, but a good person with a gun can Eliminate the murderer before they get to kill everyone.

Promises, promises. Twist all you want everyone here knows you live for twisting things around. The "murder on" was a general statement aimed at a country who doesn't seem to care that plenty of innocents are getting killed in the name of owning guns to defend oneself. No one directly called you a murderer, NO ONE. But you can twist things however you see fit because that is what you do. Then when you don't like something you scream slander, whine name calling and abuse the abuse button snitching on your fellow members like a high school kid, grow up.

 

 

Edited to add on 1-2-16 - You can come here and make abuse reports slamming on me all you want. Calling me whatever but it reflects so poorly on you it isn't funny. Now if you continue to do this then we have a problem. You are not going to tie up the other admin dealing with this childish non-sense of abusing the abuse reports.

GSD Admin, it isn't that I don't have common sense ideas, I was just curious what your's were.  I agree, the no fly list should be absolutely barred from gun ownership.  Yes federal background checks and a list of who is deemed unable to buy.  Mental health screenings would be difficult but I agree, working in the mental health field, even psychiatrists and psychologists can't agree on what is considered functional limits.

Sources for my statistics are FBI and various sites that advocate sensible gun laws, more pro gun than not but still sensible gun laws.  Having taken numerous statistics and research analysis courses for my doctorate, I know how easy it is to manipulate data such as changing the significance level (>15 is considered statistically significant), confidence interval 95% or .05 is the gold standard but many drug companies have changed it to 90% (0.1) or even 85% (.15) to get their results.  Also deciding what the dependent and independent variables are, the outliers ,etc.  I try to be as judicious and careful as possible just because it is good habits to make sure my sources are reliable.  Do I make mistakes that are pointed out by more experienced statisticians, yes, not as often, but I try to learn.....

Having been the victim of violent crime, never again will I be that vulnerable and if violence is imminent and unavoidable, one of us will not be around to talk about it, I will not go through what I have ever again.

I get that you have had very bad experiences with guns, I am so sorry you had to experience that, but I will not give up my guns and I will respect your decision to avoid guns at all cost, however; I will be the first to run to your aid. 

You won't need to run to my aide, I will already be dead because I will have the *ucker by the throat. I am not afraid to die. Not at all. Sensible gun control is necessary, IMHO. I don't care if you own a gun. I think sane people should be allowed to own guns but where we differ a lot is on what types of guns. I get a bad rap here because people think I support disarming the population. The delusions of some are not my problem, I do not, have never and probably will never advocate disarmament of the population.

I do like my H&K .45 Compact.  Love some of the guns my ex had as well.
