Gigante

Being new here...what is the general requirement for recommending a breeder? I've been on other forums where just hearing a name/seeing them post online was enough to recommend a breeder and I thought that it was not a high enough standard to be recommending breeders. So on here, what is the general experience level needed with the breeder or their dogs in order to recommend them to others?

Same high standard.... :)

I can recommend Christine Kemper, Blackthorn's Working German Shepherds in Barboursville, Va ( Near Charlottesville) I've been in contact with her for nearly a year and a half. She is very knowledgable, supportive, and works/titles/ and keeps her own dogs. She health tests her dogs as well. Her dogs are Czech, DDR, Belgium and west german lines. She has puppies placed in IPO homes, PSA homes, Competition obedience, active pets, and others. Her dogs are very versatile. I own a Sumo Von Der Dewhaus and Blackthorn's Oda puppy that is amazing. Christine can match you up with the puppy you ask her for as long as you are honest about what you want.

I don't have a Sequoyah German Shepherd but I can say that Sherle is very knowledgable as well and her dogs are amazing.

Good luck!

Pretty much what Gigante/BW said, all too often, though I think most of the answers in *this* particular thread were given by people with firsthand knowledge....

I see MikeD recommended me (thanks, Mike) though he doesn't own a dog I bred, he did helper work for one. Stefafa was clear on her experience with Christine...so I think this particular thread had some fair recommendations since they were based on knowledge of actual living, breathing, working dogs.

Superior K9 is a very reputable breeder in Georgia (near Atlanta). I have worked with them for over a year now. Great working dogs in the pedigrees. The owner has been breeding and training GSD's for over 25 years. They owned AceofNike van het Bleekhof.. 4 x WUSV and 2008 WUSV Vice Sieger and also Molinari Extra.. the dogs from that litter were extremely successful IPO dogs as well as police/personal protection (Molinari Enzo being a full sibling). They currently have 3 litters with available pups and will likely have a couple more litters in the spring. Check them out! www.SuperiorK9.com

Thanks everyone. Sorry, I forgot to reply, I just got internet at the house here where I moved to. I'll say, I think I've made a decision, but, some might keep this thread going for others to see, that may be looking for a good pup from a reputable breeder.
