I assume most have seen "Mad Men"? A great series with some of the most  unlikeable men ever whelped. A great look into Trump's current world and the world of many other men of his generation. Most are too smart or too poor to verbalize their contempt. Trump doesn't seem to care or maybe he just doesn't get it?

Excellent post, Mindhunt.

Mindhunt.....Your posts are always brilliantly composed to express what might be considered reasonable opinions----no doubt influenced by your current studies. Highly commendable that you take the time and effort, but that doesn't necessarily mean they aren't debatable. Please don't take offense to my following observations.

Brought to mind are some hazy facts which you, yourself, offered here. Wasn't there a friend who you hadn't seen in years that became a misogynist? What about the veteran you reported to authorities who was basically nuts and abusive because he negatively reacted to your mother using his end lawn strip as a toilette for her dogs? An ex-boyfriend or husband (?) whose probable abusive tendencies have caused you enough concerns that you obtained a gun and have become adept at handling? I believe you're involved with counseling abused women???? Well, we all have a past which has heavily influenced our opinions. I think you can see where I'm going......maybe I'm wrong......maybe not.

Anyway....we see Trump differently.(lol) I'm a lady who has been self supporting most of her life. Let's just say I'm quite capable of handling myself. As to Trump uttering "disgusting" when the female attorney breast fed during a meeting, I can't fault him. (lol). I believe there was a discrepancy about 'in the meeting' or ? 'just leaving the room completely'......but he wouldn't have said "disgusting".......something more like 'WHAT' would be more believable.

I still don't think he's a misogynist. Am I correct in assuming Ann Coulter isn't rated too highly either? Funny, I like her immensely. She's funny and tough. (lol) Mindhunt, please don't mistake me for a silly nilly who doesn't know any better. We obviously have different opinions. If you were in NY, I'd say lets meet for coffee (tea), but realize you're moving to Texas. Good luck.

Nice post LMH. If you get to FL let me know, but I'd want something a little stronger that tea Martini.

LMH,

Yes having worked in a predominantly male career and currently working with women who have been abused as well as men who have been abused, I see a different side of the general acceptance of marginalizing.  I see the microaggressions and the damage they do.  I also see the overt abuse along with the life long damage.  Many women and men don't recognize a microaggression when they experience one or witness one.  For instance, a Captain who was being supportive over something that rightfully upset a woman firefighter and told her ", Just let it go, I know you gals get overly emotional that time of the month, why don't you take a Midol and lay down for a bit, then come back and finish you station duties".  Another time a woman firefighter was performing rescue duties only to be screamed at by the patient "OMG A GIRL FIREMAN, GET AWAY FROM ME (starts batting at her hands), I WANT A REAL FIREMAN" (keep in mind this person was trapped in a car).  "A woman police officer told she can't do the job of a K9 officer because she is too soft".  Or my favorite "It happened years ago, can't you just get over it, why do you let it dictate your life? to a woman who had been sex trafficked", "don't get upset, take it (a wolf whistle, being told to smile, etc) as a compliment".  The list goes on.  How many women have had men think it was ok to put hands on them (case in point VP Biden putting both hands on a woman's shoulders and leaning over her to tell her something), or being hit on then when they are politely turned down, call the woman a bitch.  I see breast feeding an infant as wonderful, after all that is what breasts were originally designed for.  And yes, Trump called a woman who left a meeting to breast feed her infant "disgusting".

Until womens' issues are taken seriously and no macro- or micro-aggressions are acceptable, no objectifying, no dismissing one group as deserving of it's treatment (poor people, etc), no politician allowed to get away with any bigoted comments on any group that is marginalized (women, LGBT, mentally or physically challenged, etc), we will continue with statistics of....

3 women a day in the US are killed by former or current intimate partner

Every minute 20 people are the victim of domestic violence at the hands of a current or former intimate partner

Every 9 seconds in the United States a woman is beaten by a current or former intimate partner

Intimate partner violence is the leading cause of female homicide and injury related deaths during pregnancy.

1 in 4 people who are mentally handicapped/challenged will experience violence at that hands of another.

Over 1/3rd of those with disabilities have experienced violence this year and of the other 2/3rds, they have a 44% chance of experiencing violence in the next year.

So yes I get upset when I see misogynistic comments accepted as just "part of the culture" or "men being men" or "just who he is" or "just part of politics" and so on......Ann Coulter was chastised by a mentally handicapped young man for calling President Obama a "retard" on national television.  Politicians should be setting the bar high for acceptance of all marginalized and discriminated people, they should not be allowed to get away with racist, bigoted, misogynistic, or cruel comments, they should be held to a higher standard of RESPECTFUL behavior.

Do you like Earl Grey or Darjeeling Tea?  Wink Smile

On second thought, something stronger??? Martini

P.S  I like the thoughtfullness of your comments as well, that is what I like about this database, when we can have respectful intelligent insightful discussions from differing viewpoints  .......

No flowery, perfumed oil tea for me, Mindhunt. Just plain old orange pekoe. Love Whittards or Taylors of Harrogate Yorkshire Gold. In a lurch, Twinings will do. Want to start discussing wines? lol

LMH, most definitely wines.  Unfortunately can only drink a few.  Mostly Cabs or Carmenere from Mendoza region of Chile.  Highest altitude so lowest congeners/tanins, etc. that can give my histamine system a run for its money.  I love Cabernet Franc from Black Star Farms in Traverse City Michigan, heck love all their wines and can actually drink them.  So what wines do you like

(Totally hijacking this thread lololololol Wink Smile)

Well its interesting to see LMH CAN 'agree to disagree' with other posters
without resorting to insults.
Just choosy about who, I guess ? Hey, I drink tea also !

Mindhunt, not too sure there is anything 'micro' about the examples you
give ^^^! E.G. That old chestnut about women getting unreasonably upset when
menstruating ? He was being SUPPORTIVE ???
