I think you have to have regristration papers to be able to show him? My breeder doesn't give out papers until proof of being fixed. Plus he only has one dropped testicle so I don't know if that's not allowed. I would love to show him but frankly, I know nothing about it. & thanks! My little sister helped take that photo! :)

Chloster,if he has only one testicle then he can not be shown.Secondly the breeder knew what was doing and withold the papers,he is not a show pup,yes he has very good color, lots of bones but rest is not there and he will not be show dog.But he might be woderful pet and that is most importent. Many of these opinion come from owners of working dogs, and i have to say it that they don't have much knowledge about show line dogs and conformation,is just like me i don't know much about working line dogs, that's why i never critique nor discuss anything regarding working lines.Best of luck with him.

I just took this a few minutes ago.

The undescended testicle is a perfect illustration of why  I always

tell OPs that a serious critique isn't possible or sensible on the basis

of a still photograph.

You did not mention it, so I did not advise on it.  No, it is true that it

would rule out a Showing or breeding 'career' for this beautiful boy -

and that is a shame.   However at only 16 weeks there is still a

(admittedly slight)  chance it will drop.

Some other posters assume rather a lot ...  I for one DO come from

the Show side, not the working enthusiasts,  and in my mind that is

precisely why  A)  I don't encourage 'all & sundry' to get into Showing;

and B) I do feel it is important that all GSDs should have some work to

do.

Linda.

Even without both testes you can still work him;  herding; lure coarsing; agility; UKC obedience;  service (medical & therapy) even AKC  obedience, and really all other shows with AKC except conformation.  Best of luck, he is beautiful.  Nan

I don´t see any IPO titles on the dams side, no breed survey on sire and dam, and I don´t see a HD result on the sire´s side, and no ED result on sire and dam. That said, in case any of the above mentioned points is missing, you can´t show "SV style" - but with an undescended testicle you couldn´t show him even if the parents "got it all".

Doesn´t matter, you know what you bought - a companion dog. And you bought a good looking one Wink Smile
Please keep us updated - I´d love to see new pics in the age of 12 / 18 / 24 months - a lot of people might wonder...

You bought a "working dog breed" - try to find a sport both of you like, and you´ll have a lot of fun with your pup.
Good luck!

I'll for sure keep you guys updated! :) I'm a member on the GSD forum as well (Bella67) I post lots of pictures of him on there too. I'll start looking at some activites I can get him into and see which one he likes best. :)

Susie, I had not realised that - if this IS the case -  USA  'SV' shows adhere

strictly to the German / WUSV rules for competition.  In the UK we have got

away with [KC] Showing under SV / German Judges, without having dogs

adequately health tested and qualified, for many years, even at Shows run by

our two WUSV member Clubs, and only in the past decade has this position

started to change.  (It is still flexible !)     So I had kind of assumed that in the

States, that was also true. Given that the AKC is apparently so lax in that regard,

and so many American breeders still baulk at being asked to get working titles

and health tests on their stock  ("good guys" who contribute to PDB excepted, of

course !  Teeth Smile ).  Quite a lot of difference between "should not compete without ..."

and "MAY NOT compete without."   I accept that I did not pay sufficient attention

to what is recorded on the pedigree, but so often one hears that tests have been

done and OFA'd, just not amended on here ...

I´m not aware of the current rules within the United States, but as far as I know, a dog participating in an SV show has to fulfill the SV rules.
Anybody able to help?

Hello chloster,

U asked for a critique too early.... If you don't want to him or can't show him due to any reason but still he surly deserves activities... You will have some deep memories with hell of fun as he will surely mature into a stunner... Good luck.. Happy keeping.
