I agree, I think that happens in the USA.  Or we see 1/3 of the entire class awarded VA.  I'm mainly thinking of the Sieger show in Germany.  And I'm not saying showlines are more fit, I'm saying that preparing for the Sieger show is not just showing up with your dog and hiring a handler.  Comparing the Sieger shows I have attended to club level SV shows, the dogs are in the ring way longer, like 4-5 times longer (and I've never been to a Sieger show in Germany). Sometimes the judge is really running them down to see which dogs fall apart after a while.  My dogs participate in many sports year-round but if I intended to show an adult dog at a Sieger show I would definitely have to include some roadwork type conditioning for several weeks, if not months, to really feel prepared for the show ring.

VK....yeah, it's so confusing with the VA designation!!

I don't care about ranking as much as the rating. In other words, if a dog is ranked V-100...I would still assume that he has correct V conformation and proper movement. But, I don't know if what I consider correct conformation  and what a SV judge considers correct conformation are the same!! Haha

There are a few examples of WL dogs did well in Universal Sieger and excel in WUSV as well. Here is one of them:

Geischa Eqidius (http://www.working-dog.eu/dogs-details/939435/Geischa-Eqidius-CS)
UniversalSieger Show - 6th in 2011, 3rd in 2012 and 7th in 2014
UniversalSieger IPO - 1st in 2011, 2nd in 2012 and 1st in 2014
WUSV WM (IPO)- 8th in 2011, 3rd in 2012

Another few examples are

Chris Spod Lazov (http://www.working-dog.eu/dogs-details/977246/Chris-spod-Lazov)
UniversalSieger Show - 12th in 2013
UniversalSieger IPO - 1st in 2013
WUSV WM (IPO)- 11th in 2013, 61st 2014
FCI WM (IPO) - 1st in 2013, 5th 2014

Witz Eqidius (http://www.working-dog.eu/dogs-details/919692/Witz-Eqidius-CS)
UniversalSieger Show - 26th in 2011
UniversalSieger IPO - 1st in 2011
WUSV WM (IPO)- 2nd in 2012
FCI WM (IPO) - 6th in 2012

Faro Demin Dvor (http://www.working-dog.eu/dogs-details/226643/Faro-Demin-Dvor)
UniversalSieger Show - 10th in 2011
UniversalSieger IPO - 7th in 2011

I am sure there are many other examples, but I am just a little more familiar with Slovakian kennels.

Plus 1 on Chris Spod Lazof - he and Josef Adamucin were/are top notch..

Trained with Josef and worked Chris while prepping for the last WUSV Universal Sieger in Slovakia and say so first hand.

Dirk and Gucci are top, top notch as well from the female side.  Many top European dogs and/or handlers have participated these past few years.

Some showlines - mainly from North America - have placed highly but they are significantly under represented at this event.

Unfortunately Chris has been sold to China in November. Breeding him outside of China will be very difficult now.

Yes it is (unfortunate).

Smiley I used to run 6 miles a day with a VA dog pulling me the whole way, the dog could do more but I was pushed to the limit. Germans make the remark at Siegershows that on the whole, we double handle too much here in the US because the dogs are not properly trained. A properly trained and presented dog will pull at the end of a leash to show its structure under load, this is different than the dog being hectic and digging, the judge gets to see the dog moving freely during off leash heeling. The judging at the GSDCA Siegershow this year was as good as judging gets here in the US, every dog received a critique. There were workinglines shown and every critique I heard of them described the dogs as having correct rear angulation, a couple of them were placed back for having roached backs. USCA is on the right track now that they have a new plan for judges and this upcoming USCA Siegershow should be great. I would like to see more workinglines in shows and I have to admit I am partial to sables. Usually when I hear a workingline person planing on showing their dog, they have a contempt for the process and won't train for the ring or they think that their dog is trained and they don't need the training, their other training will somehow transfer over. There was an all black bitch from mixed lines that placed first in its class in front of some high caliber WGSL in a show in North Carolina a couple of years ago.
