Yes, Blitzen, what a learning experience that was,  though pedigree is only part of that equation. It would be really nice if instead of hiding things (like blue puppies) if people were honest about what they've had crop up. Apparently, Ludwigseck/Grafental has run into this issue before...never in a million years was I worried about blue. I worried about just about everything BUT blue, LOL! The first half is knowing; the second half is disclosing.

Since the OP about Chacco and Nino specifically, take the following for what it's worth and what it cost you. I have seen both Chacco and Nino personaly and as far as what is available in the U.S. think both are excellent choices in West German S/L. Bth have produced good progeny. Nino is a larger dog, has scored 5-5 in protection phase. He had no issue handling the gaiting in 90+ direct sun light and was playing ball at the end of gaiting in St. Louis with his owner.

Ghacco is noted for proudicing very sound mnds, is a little closer to medium size and a lttle more atletic looking than Nino, also does well at protection phase. Both dogs bring in Baru, Nino a little closer up if this matters. Some size issues have been noted through Baru, but also some very sound dog.Chacco brings in Dolly Werther Muhle, a female who has produced some strong biting dogs.

Nino has a very long croup, slightly sloped, seems to produced a higher whither.

Really, if you are looking for a wgsl stud, 2 of the best in the U.S. and it is really just splitting hairs which might be the best for your particular female, since we don't know anything about her.

All things being equal, I wold pobably go with Chacco just for the closr to medium size, but I wouldn't drive past Nino to get there,

jmo, hth, etc.etc

If you really want to better the breed......don't breed. Too many puppies already. The best most  can do is stop breeding.

It's all a matter of personnel preference we are blessed to have access to many wonderful stud males in North America. This was not always the case.
