Putin may be defying the NWO or it may all be staged.  Hard to tell.  I do think Putin is going to squish the west, with China's help and a one world leader will come out of it.

America's reign as world police is over.

Putin just wants to reclaim some of the old Soviet empire, he'll settle for the naval base and port at Kiev, Ukraine is prime real estate, he is hoping for revolution and will stage one if one is not available.

He cannot take it by force, it must look like the peoples choice.

China has their own agenda, there will be no squishing or one world leader, study your history.

It is all about resources and technology, money, not politics or territory.
