Guys just cut the mats to a size big enough for your dogs to rest on. Then you dont have to worry about nail wear, or calouses. Each of my kennels has a 3x5 mat in it, outside the front of the dog house. I have shade mesh on top and front of kennels, to block sun in summer. I bought one 5x10 mat or something close to that size and cut it in 3 even pieces. Used a sharp carpet knife to do the job.

correction my mats are 3+someinchesx4 so original mat was 4x10. Still bigger than a 600 crate floor. My dogs hang out on them when they nap outside their houses.
