I agree with babyeagle, I think there is confusion between nerves and drive. High drive doesn't mean a crazed off the wall wacko dog. I have seen many dogs that would fit that label, but they are clear headed and once they are at rest, are great dogs. On the field it is easy to tell they love the test. Also some of those dogs that exhibit the off the wall behavior, just aren't expelling that drive, they have no outlet for it, doesn't make them crazy, just makes them in need of an avenue to unload.

doesn't this dog's police service prove he is capable of doing his work? Nerve is exactly the point. Prey drive is one thing, but nerve is another. This dog went from basically having a working life in a kennel to being a pet and competition dog (as well as working narc while i was working) in the US at 4 years of age. The dogs I see, just like the GSD who won Group at Eukanuba last night is what I am talking about. That dog jumped back from Battaglia. I am surprised he put her up. The best GSD is bred for who you are selling too. As for our police dogs, generally we breed the DDR / Czech / W. German Working lines. But this is the great thing about this dog, Andy, he is quote unquote "showlines" but he is a working dog. that is why we keep the pups. too hard to find. malinda julien
