Thanks again, everyone, for your nice comments!  I'll try to finish this up... Teeth Smile now!

This is a picture of what we did while we waited for the next plane in Denver.

Steve drove us up to the falls by way of winding, open mountain roads.
It was interesting to see from the falls that part of the road further up, well, the road underneath was washed away! There were man made supports to the road, but if you are slightly nervous about heights, or falling off of cliffs (me!) it can be a nerve wracking ride. More so on the return down the mountainside, because the illusion one gets from driving is like that of an edgeless pool. Thank goodness I was on the passenger side, I had to close my eyes for a second! It was too easy to think of Thelma and Louise and just wonder what would happen if someone hit the gas!

I heard DebiSue's husband never even made it up to that part of the road... and ya' know what, I do understand, LOL

Oh, well, dinner is here, so I'll have to finish later... sorry to keep dragging this out!

LOL, beetree.  You're right.  My husband didn't want to to any further up the mountain on that narrow, no shoulder road.  Trust me, Paul doesn't feel like he missed out on anything not getting to see the road washed out etc.  I get car sick so I didn't care for the ride up to the falls but coming back down the same way didn't bother us as much because the mountain was on the passenger side then.  Love the pix.  Keep on posting.  We are loving everyone of them and hearing about your adventure is super entertaining.

An finally doggy pictures!

Mojo checking out Beau. You can see how his tail is, too high! We've been keeping him in check, and it is working. I have a new command for Mojo, called, "Be Nice!", and he seems to be responding. He's started to engage in play behaviour instead of prey, even though at the moment due to his size, to Beau the results might be the same! I was encouraged at one point though, when things got a little hectic, Mojo could have stepped and crunched on Beau, but he gracefully jumped his feet out of the way indicating that he does not want to hurt the little guy! I smiled at that.

Beau getting to know his new home. He's becoming more familiar with the yard. Steph said he has a good nose, and after watching him, I think so, too! He's got lots to hunt down, unfortunately that includes deer and rabbit poop. I really don't want him to acquire that bad habit of eating it but he did eat some before I could stop him. :( .

And finally, here are some cute pictures just for fun.

Beau goes for a car ride. He is actually on the floor of the front seat of the caddy. The feet "air" was on, and he really seems to like the A/C with that fuzzy coat of his. When I gave him a bath, it was almost water repellant! It really took a lot to wet him down for the shampoo. However, it is actually very soft. Some lady on the trip made that comment saying, "GSD's coats are usually coarse and wirey." I didn't get Mojo in his fuzzy puppy coat so I really didn't know what to say to her, except, "Really, hmmmm?"

Belly-up!
He loves to sleep, just like this all the time, LOL  He really is an easy puppy! Co-ordinating the family is a lot harder to manage than he is. Like yesterday, he goes to the door, I let him out, he does his business. I am happy, I let him know he is a good doggy! When I'm home with Beau alone, no messes! I go to bed, wake up at 2:30 a.m because he is crying. Well, you'd be crying too, if you had poop in your crate. And, then I find poop under the side table, too. I find a suspicious looking puddle. I don't get it! Don't these other males in my house see and smell sh*t? It can't just be a female thing!

Mojo looks happy to watch over his new buddy.

Hope you all enjoyed these pictures and little stories of Beau and Mojo.

And I really want to thank Steph and Steve for their hospitality and the work they do to save so many GSD's and Malinois... yes I saw those crazy dogs, too, always in motion it seemed. All those dogs, each with a name, a story, and she knows them all. Truly remarkable how she manages them all, and there are some real serious characters protecting her homestead, too. It is a gift and a skill. It was such an honor to meet her and Steve.

Beau got a break when she stepped in to rescue him, and we are so delighted with our boy. The trip was worth it, 1000 percent!!!

Mojo looks like the self-appointed body guard.

Bee, do Beau and the cat get along?

by Blitzen on 21 September 2012 - 21:09

Mojo is a good boy. Some males are not very good with same sex puppies.

He looks exactly like an oops litter my friend's brother had. Right down to the "almost water repellent" coat and the white splotches on chest and feet. He has a cute smile.

Ruger1, thanks!

Ninja, no he has not met the cat, and unless the cat introduces himself, it will be in a very long time since the cat lives on the second floor. You should see Mojo today! He's too funny... he had appropriated one of Beau's new toys and started teasing him with it to play. It was so cute, too bad I don't have pictures! Eventually I think they will be best buds. Still, have to watch carefully because he can change real quick, but I am very encouraged by his interest to play. He is very attentive, that is for sure. Mojo's a little confused with what to eat these days, though...I gave him a raw chicken thigh and I had to practically shred the meat before he'd try to eat it. And then he barely finished the one. The little beast had no problem cleaning up his leavings.

LF: I will be sharing his puppyhood with everyone, I know most are as curious as I am, LOL, as to who's his daddy. Still hoping for upright ears, but really... I think he's good looking no matter what. He plays tug, brings back the ball, and likes to bite my hair and won't let go! Drew first blood already but not on purpose.  And Steph wasn't kidding, when he's tired, he conks out and wakes up slow.

I did meet his mom, Reese. She had a very sweet character, but I was absolutely shocked how thin she still was, I can't imagine how she was alive when Steph got her, it would have been traumatic for me, to see any animal in her previous condition. She had lots of energy from what I saw, so she is slow to add weight.

Blitzen, thank you for your nice comments about Mojo. He is being a very good boy. Like I was saying to Ninja, it was so obvious today he was trying and succeeding in getting the puppy to chase after him, to grab the toy to play tug, and it was all his idea. But I know not to relax my vigilance with supervision, at least until Beau gets some size and is better able to defend himself. Mojo has never started a dog fight as of yet. I'd say he is territorially protective and does his job patrolling the perimeter and encouraging passersby to keep moving along, as he should. We are also making sure he gets plenty of love, at the proper times, so he knows we didn't take away our heart for him, we just grew another one for Beau.

Jenni, do you have access to any of his "twin's" picts? That would be interesting.....

I had one in my cellphone but it got deleted, I think. I'd have to go look. That pup wasn't blue- everything but color was the same. Most of the litter was really uniform.
