Shoot. I have a club level Schh dog that I've offered up for an "adoption fee" of $150 because of a paper issue and no one will even come and look at him, LOL. Maybe I ought to price him at $1500 :)

Adult males are a narrow market. It's all about presentation. GSDFLA, I suggest a little more description of individual dogs ( try not to sound as if you are having a truckload sale). Take a few pictures. Mention their training pointing out any strengths, etc. Good luck.

maligator, what is the issue with the papers? If the dog is really club level, this should not force you to give the dog away! $150 is a give-away price!

jdh is right, again. Presentation IS everything. Try selling on eBay and you will see that any given thing can be sold more or less effectively, and for more or less money, depending on how you describe it. There ARE people out there looking for dogs. You have to be able to connect with them. Selling is an artform and it must be practiced. I did not want to seem discouraging, BUT.. Breeding dogs is not for everyone. It can be tough going at times, and you may have to hang onto a dog for quite awhile before you find the right buyer. I definitely don't believe in the "just sell the dog" approach. If you find yourself stuck with a lot of dogs, you will have to work your way out of it, one dog at a time. It can be done, but you have to develop a good marketing approach to do it right.

DDR-DSH, you are so right. It took me 14 months to find an appropriate home for the last dog from a litter of 11 (and I kept 2 of them).

*chuckle* He is registered as a malinois and looks like a GSD mix, and probably is. The paper problem isn't the sole reason we're rehoming him though.

p.s. ...since I can't edit my post... Give-away price, really? I didn't realize it was that bad, haha... I just put him at what I'd charge for one of my rescues, mainly because putting him in a good home is FAR more important than the amount I charge for him, and I wanted to convey that to any potential buyer who was looking at him. I'm not a good salesperson, lol.

well, if anyone has a female priced @ 1,500.00 shipping included that's young, child safe, house broken, strong boned and beautiful color that's a prospect for herding let me know.
