I can picture Blitz standing in the middle of a litter of puppies with them hanging off his ears and tail and his loving every moment of it LOL. He has allowed himself to be intimidated by a standard poodle (in a continental clip no less) and has been mauled by a great dane and climbed all over by a 3 month old bedlington. All this happened in his play group where he always won all the prizes for the agility phase. Beat the poodle every time; boy, was I ever proud of him for that!! I think he'd be a good nanny too. You are right, Flygirl, you just make the best of the situation. It's not a big deal to be careful with him, he's my only dog now and lives in a environment always controlled by me, the mean mommie. He's with us til death do we part.

..I truly enjoy being in the woods ,watching the dog explore ...and also the head in the lap..

I enjoy so many things with my dogs. One of my favorites is watching my nephews play football with them, lined up where they are told to be and then chasing down whoever has the ball. My older shepherd used to open the dryer and pull all my clothes out and then lay on them. It was so funny to walk into the laundry room and see the back end of your dog sticking out. Another was watching my 5 year old shepherd give comfort to my father while battling brain cancer. The last week of his life, she would sit by his side and he would reach out and put his hand under her collar. She would sit for hours with her head in an awkward position, just so he could hold onto her. He seemed less stressed when she was by his side. Strangest thing is she was never a cuddly dog - always was aloof before his illness. So I guess I would say that my favorite time with my dog(s) is all the time. I am so blessed to have 4 wonderful gsd's in my life. Wouldn't trade them for the world.

This is a lovely thread. Good of you to think of it, flygirl. It drives home how special these dogs are to each of us and that's really what it's all about.

My favorite time with my dogs is taking them to the pond and watching them launch off the dock into the water. When they fetch the toy they can't wait for me to throw it so they can do it again and again. Its so enjoyable to see them have so much fun. Another one of my favorite times is watching my daughter interact with them. Check out this candid moment I caught on video...Who says a Police/SchH working line GSD doesn't make a good family pet!! http://www.dropshots.com/day.php?userid=78828&cdate=20061031&ctime=114859 Here's another one: http://www.dropshots.com/day.php?userid=78828&cdate=20060306&ctime=073651

i have so many good times with my dogs that i simply cannot narrow it down. but i think one of them is watching karri try to climb trees. that just cracks me up all the time. we have 1 tree that bottom branches are about 6 feet up. she chases squirrels right up and makes it to bottom branches and get stuck. then whine and cry til she is rescued.

Deeswolf, In my state a dog that has been trained in Schutzhund or any such training cannot recieve a canine good citizen certificate or be certified therapy dogs, even though my sch trained show line dog is a baby. That tennis ball thing on the bottom of a walker is hilarious, i can just picture your dogs eyes growing huge as he fights himself to not take off with it. LOL!!!

Why is it all laws pertaining to dogs are promulgated by those who know zip about dogs? Banning Schutzhund trained dogs from CGC competition makes about as much sense as does breed-specific legislation.
