Oh God Desert, that one hits home! My bf and I go rounds on how to handle the dogs whenever he is here. He's a dog trainer but they are my dogs, we can never settle. (rolling eyes) Migrian Migrain Migrain

Worse than raising kids. This is weird for me being with someone who is more into dogs than I am. Sometimes I have to step back and say, "dude let them be dogs". My dogs are my pets and I wanna have fun with them and find it hard, when we are running a doggie boot camp it seems. Damn trainers. I enjoying learning what he knows but it can be a bit much some days. Mostly we clash because he treats my dogs like any other dog off the street. With caution and suspicion. I know my dogs and what they are capable of. He doesn't trust that I know them as well as I think. It drives him nuts that he can't control them off leash. After all he is the trainer. We just have different styles of training and my dogs never have listened to anyone but me.

It seems that I am in the minority since I've have a few very good dog co-ownerships over the last 37 years. Currently I co-own 3 AKC champions (not GSD's so please don't shoot the messenger) with a long time friend and breeder. We share the costs of vet bills, show entries, handling fees, stud fees, etc and have never had any problems whatsoever. I would qualify this by saying that all my co-ownerships were with personal friends who I knew very well over a period of time and with whom I shared similar goals and ideals. I think it all comes down to how well you know the person. Personally I'd never co-own with a stranger. A co-ownership with the right person can be a good thing for everyone involved.

A Risky endeavor in my opinion. Is that to say I don't do Co-own's, No I do, I have 3 Currently, all working out very nicely but still "Partnerships" I would classify as Risky. Just my 2 cents.

I agree I would steer well clear. Nothing but trouble from the sounds of it.

Coming from someone who has been taken by possbile one of the Biggets and worst con-artist in Ohio, I can tell you to STAY FAR AWAY from co-ownership!!! :(

Thanks for all your thoughts etc. Sounds like its more than a sore subject for some of you as it has been for my friend. She will never do it again she assures me of that. Thanks once again.
