*UPDATE*

Both are still doing fantastic!

He is a "warm" pup, he would rather sleep on the tile floor then the soft warm bedding... laugh
Growling and pouncing at his mom
Attacking my hands and clothes, god help me when the teeth pop

Going to offer him his first taste of some puppy gruel this weekend, he will be three weeks old on Monday.

No, she's not at all proud of that little bugger! And he's just so dang cute, who can blame her? Now don't be stingy with those pictures, if there's only one pup, there should be twice as many pictures! jackie harris

I've helped raise two singleton pups at kennels where I used to work.  In my experience the best thing is to make sure the pup gets a lot of handling.  One of the singleton pups I helped raise seem to have an issue with being touched early on, so she got a lot of extra handling, picked up, held in different positions, all 4 feet, tail, head/face/ears all gently massaged to get her acclimated to being touched all over.
Both singletons grew up into fine dogs, they were both able to socialize with other dogs of all ages from very early on, so that helped a lot with dog socialization.

dAWgESOME,

First, Congrats.....Both, good looking dogs. Hey, for me. How did you know she was pregnant (and then with one pup)? Did you have Xrays? If not, was she showing? At all? Or did she start to show near the end?

Hi - thanks again for the complements and info   He is 3 1/2 weeks old, loves his food, teeth are about all the way in and already tugging at my clothes and chomping my fingers. We have been doing Bio-sensor +++ 5k (I just made that up) We carry him around like a little teddy bear, cut his nails every few days, touch him all over several times a day, put him on all kinds of surfaces (wicker baskets, leather couches, wood, carpet, kitchen counters, LOL).  I'll hold his food and make him walk towards me (baby re-calls) to get it.  I'll make him climb over my legs, some folded up towels whatever obstacle to get to his food.  Trying to be creative with all kinds of puppy "torture".  All of our dogs live in our home with us and he is the center of attention, its very easy to do all kinds of "extra stuff" and to really pay a lot of attention to just one.  It's crossed my mind that because of all of this he might end up a really amazing dog or a royal pain in the arse.... Really probably equal parts of both - I mean come on just look at him!   @ alboe2009 we did an ultra sound to confirm the pregnancy at about 3 weeks and we only saw one but it was early on and she was very "gassy" that day so we were not sure if there were more that we could not see.  Although for what its worth in knew in my gut that there was only one -   She never got huge but thought maybe she was carrying "higher up".  We took her in for an x-ray a week before she was due and low and behold one chunky pup.  I consulted other experienced breeders and several vets and it was decided to let her go to term then have a c-section (she was 63 days on Sunday the 22nd of January, we went in for the c-section that Monday morning).  She had begun to show early signs of labor over the weekend but never rally got things moving.  It was the right thing to do as he was high in the uterus and on the big side very likely we would have lost him if we tried to let it go naturally.
