We have people who starve GSDs to death here, drag them to death behind trucks, fight and beat them. Better not sell dogs to the US! Don't get me wrong, fur grosses me out. But do you really think this is a six figure VA dog? Is the idea more saddening than just any other dog, anyway? My ex husband had the hide to his pointer he had growing up. His dog died of natural causes, it was a memento the way some people keep ashes. Again, I thought it was gross, but he came from another culture. I doubt this GSD was a beloved pet, but to despise a country of millions for the barbarism of some is ignorance.

There was at one time a video on "Daily Motion" called China Dog Raw that showed the whole slaughtering process of German Shepherds-to them the GS is their Angus.  I have never been so infuriated nor felt so helpless-I thought many times of mentioning that video on this forum but decided it was just too cruel and heart rendering.

Is this really news? I've known that this stuff happens since I was a little kid. Different cultures do different things. There are horrid things going on right here in the good ol USA. It's all what you're used to. Of course it's horrible, but LOTS of things done to animals are horrible and they happen all over, not just China, India, etc.

The WalMart story was about cat fur, not dog fur. It was supposed to be rabbit fur, but it was cat. They pretended they didn't know, but they did, and they wanted cat fur specifically because it's super easy to bleach and dye, whereas other fur takes a lot more work. But cat fur can be dyed a hideous shade just perfect for a little girl's cheap winter coat. I know this because I know fur traders that WM used to ask specifically for cat fur- super cheap (often trapped by accident) and easy easy easy to dye.

That is absolutely sickening and barbaric;  sick bastards.  Now I am worried about the famous dogs that are over in china being bred to death;  like the beautiful show line boy I love;  Cimi von Fitchenslag (SP)  why would someone send that dog over there?  JHC.

VonIsengard, At least over here in the USA we have animal right laws. If someone who starved their dogs to death can be arrested and then prosecuted to the maxium of the law if found guilty.  Strange things has happen. Why do people spend 10k on a dinner? I am pretty certain that a fairly wealthy man in china would have no problem making his next VA dog his dinner, along with brining over some friends over to have a BBQ fest, and to brag about how they're eating this dog or that dog. Wealthy people can be quite disguesting.

He can also take it's pelt and double the money that he paid before, and use it as art. I mean people are known to buy expensive crap. Look how many people would pay millions for a glob of paint that is on a sheet of paper. granted some art looks real good, but other times... meh!

Why is there a difference between a $10,000 GSD or a mutt from the streets? A dog is a dog. I don't want to see any dog suffer needlessly. I don't really care if people eat them or use their fur but I would like to know that they are killed quickly and I know many are not, THAT is what sickens me.
