I had a similiar problem a few years back, bitch was only mated once though 61 days(which is when  aGSD should whelp if mated on right day) she did all the right things temperature dropped made a nest ect then nothing she was huge, and had had no problems before hand. the owner didnt want me to take to the vet went 63 days 65 days then i did anyway ultra sound live pups 11 from memory vets advise go home cause she only 65 days and they can go 68 bklah blah, wasnt happy but not my bitch, next day nothing so back to the vet insisted on a ceaser. first pup out almost dead, green discharge(nothing from the bitch at that time) every singel pup was only just breathing and we basically had to help each pup breath for ages before they were ok, my advice take her in for an xray but i would be doing a caeser NOW as long as the pupsare 57 days from the last mating they will survive anyway, and if they are from one of the other matings well get them out asap, uterine enertia is something i have had a lot to do with, again not my bitches but it better to be safe then sorry, had i listen to the vet pups would be dead and posssibly lost the bitch as well

99.1 is not a very low drop in temp. I consider a drop to be 97.6 or in the 98's However it is a drop and if labor did not begin within 24 hours and she is that far along I also would get a progesterone level done to see where she is at. This just happened to me on my last litter. Temp dropped Labor never began. 30 hours we did an ultrasound and pups were all fine but nothing. We were on the ready for a c-section if need be but continued to wait progesterone was just beginning to drop. My repro vet gave dexamethasone to ready lungs on pups as sometimes if it is a small litter there is not enough hormone released to signal labor. Within 2 hours of the dexamethasone injection her water broke. 3.5 hours later still no contractions... Danger zone! Now by the time we got in for a c-section she had gone from no discharge abnormalities to green....very very bad!! We ended up after everything with an emergency c-section. And thank goodness we were carefully keeping her monitored or we could have lost all the pups.  Once that temp drops if it goes back up you really need to be doing progesterone testing to see where they are at. If it has dropped( progesterone) and you do not have active labor you very well could be in trouble. If you are not exactly sure of conception date as in if you did not do a progesterone test the day of the first mating it can really throw your days off.  But if it were me I would be getting an x-ray as well as an ultrasound and doing a progesterone level asap!  Good luck keep us posted. Don't wait this one out. The warning for me on my girl was watching that temp and very good thing because it could have had a very bad outcome had I not been completely on board with my vet. I will also add here as well my female also showed no signs of nesting either..... another warning sign! This can happen in cases as well with a torsioned uterus so please get her in asap and rule out all possible complications.

****On a side note could you please tell me what you fed your bitch during her pregnancy? I am logging an independent study on K9 nutrition and association with uterine inertia.

Anyone else who has experienced uterine inertia in a pregnancy who would not mind pm'ing or posting here what they fed their bitch during pregnancy I would really appreciate the information to add to my continued studies. I hope this will end up one day being valuable information we can all use in the continued efforts on the subject which puts so many of our bitches and puppies at risk.

Progesterone tests are good not just to time mating but also for situations like this.

You can better tell the gestation period if you know the ovulation date, otherwise it can be 57 to 70 days.

I will always do P-test from now on.

Congratulations Randy and your fine litter.  Glad to see that my stud Waiko is still doing his job well.
