Totally of topic so i'll keep it short.  I used to bike with a Springer but ended up with a two inch deep hole in my leg.  A deer crashed out of the bush and hit the front of the bike, I swung my leg to stabilize, the bike skidded forward (still in motion from the dog) and whammo. Need less to say we are back on collar and leash. i can always just let go....

"i can always just let go...."

Not off topic at all and I agree.  I can let go or let out more leash as needed or take some in...

Awesome stuff! Our dogs sure sometimes have a way of knowing exactly what we need from them when we need it most, don't they? Sounds like a good dog you've got there. Best of luck on your AD.
I did the AD almost spur of the moment with my girl at 18 months old. It was the same day as our BH. We were heavy on exercise previously (we jogged about three miles a day in addition to our regular training), but being that my bike suffered a most unfortunate death a while back and I didn't have another, we went into the AD with no prep. Imagine when I get on my borrowed mountain bike and she starts at a steady trot on my left and keeps it up for the whole darn thing. And then wants to keep going when we're finished. Wearing nothing but her fursaver and a 4' leather.

I also just completed an AD with my girl Britta von der Koenig Haus, (AKA Cassie), and we used only a 4 ft leash and fursaver. She was prepared, but I was struggling a little... She did great though. :-)

I use the "walky dog" on my bike and it works for me. Though my guys have been trained to run right beside me.  Today, Max, Buck, and I went riding for a while, and they ran along....because they are trained well, I just attach Max and Buck together with an attachment you connect two collars together with....and then use another one and attach it to the walky dog thing. Pretty sure you shouldn't do it like that, but they listen very well so I don't have to worry about it. Biking is a lot of fun, though I have a schwin spelling? bike, and it wears you out fast if you're not use to it.  Biking is a great way to get many miles done in a short amount of time, not to mention the dogs love it.
