It is now our turn. The worst deal is that we will have wind and snow along with artic temperatures. The high later this week will be in the SINGLE DIGITS, say 7 and the lows are predicted, without wind chill, to be - 7 or -8 F........UGH!!! I hate this forecast.

Well hodie if it's going to be that cold, I hope you got your long johns on. LOL

 Ninja,

Unfortunately, I have no long johns, or short johns for that matter. I also don't have a winter coat, but I am a tough old bird.....and I will stay outside only as long as I absolutely must. The dogs won't want to be out either in this kind of weather.

Well, I do not know what to say.....except   HANG IN THERE and keep warm...Have a back up plan for heat..is all I know.

Here in TEXAS   we got a warm spell....THAT IS TEXAS for ya!

IT is up to 63* today so I washed the  cocker spaniels as they STUNK from being wet for three days..

It is raining now....wet all over and damp...so no FUDGE for NEW YEARS>>>UNLESS IT turns cold and dry.

I froze till 10 am this morning and the sun came out and warmed us up  NOW by FRIDAY it is going back down to 30 then  27 and 20 and 32 for 4 straight nites ....but no snow..

THE cost of what you are all getting is mounting and it can be serious if towns have to shut down and everything comes to a halt...I am glad I live in TEXAS<

Sending WARM WISHES FOR THE NEW YEAR

What's kind of interesting, if you think about it, is how much we have changed, as a society.  Two inches totally shuts down some towns, and if they think we might get three, they issue a winter storm warning.

Here in the Inland Northwest, we are in the grip of a winter storm warning.  Some places have had more than twenty inches of snowfall, though it's hard to tell how much has fallen here because it's blowing all over the place.  I *think* we've had eight to ten inches, though I can't be sure.

The daytime highs are supposed to go into the low teens for the next few days, with lows down below zero.  I'll wait to go out and shovel until it gets down and cold, because then the darn snow will come off the shovel more easily.  In some places I don't have to shovel, so that's great...Nice thing about drifting snow is that it does keep some places clear!

All those who are socked in under heavy snows, I wish you all the best.  When you live in a big city with only electricity for your heat, and you lose power, it can be hard to stay warm enough.  We are lucky enough to have alternative heat, and I hope all goes well in the next few days for all of you.

I don't worry about snow fall until it starts getting deep enough on the road that the brush guard on the front of my GMC Sierra starts pushing snow.  Then I worry because if I high-center, I'll have to get out and shovel!

Seriously, though, my biggest worries are the people who refuse to slow down for conditions, who insist on driving the speed limit, or more, no matter what's going on.  Those are the ones who usually cause the worst accidents, and it's pretty scary.  I have to drive defensively, just to protect myself from them.

The only time I ever put my truck in four wheel drive is if I spin out going up a hill, or if I have trouble starting out from a stop.  I figure four wheel drive is the best way of getting out of trouble...It's a fast way of getting INTO trouble.  I have good all season, all terrain tires on my truck, and that helps, too.

Two inches of snow or two feet...It doesn't matter if your local municipality is not on the ball with snow removal and the crazy drivers out there insist on showing off their front wheel drives or their all wheel drive.   All I can say to them is what the State Patrol is telling them already. "Slow down, increase following distance, and slow down."
