The MODERATORS will not CHOKE the life out of PDB, but the members that continue to do as they wish with no regard to others. Yes, it is the USERS, who make up the Database...BUT it is the few USERS, that can destroy this for all too!

Have a great day!

Simple solution,,,,,make everyone use their actual name instead of a screen name.

I came to this forum in the attempt to learn all I could about the breed and training! What I learned is that the  moral fabric of dog people and people in general sucks! One long time  member who recently passed away once ask the club " what has he contributed"  Me a new owner and  hopefully a handler !  I do not know shit about the gsd but I did not come out of the womb yesterday either! politics or religion or gsd unless those discussing them  obtain some common decency  and   courtesy this site is destined for destruction! Show line working line and breeders  are all subjects of   bullshit  talk! Use the skills you learned in english grammer and  have some decency  about yourselves and we will be allowed to discuss anything!

Hi,

My real name is John Doe. It will not work unless some form of verification is used.  Honestly my real name is John Doe.

Names can be faked and are faked all the time.

Regards,
GSD

I agree with Phil on this one, I'd have no problem changing my user name to Kadi Thingvall.

At the same time, I do believe the moderators should be using real names. When someone is put in a position of power, the reality is that they are also held to a higher standard. Kind of sucks when you are that person, but that's life. Making them anonymous removes a large amount of the responsibility for their actions that they are here to hold user's to. If they step out of line to much, abuse the power too much, the worst thing that happens is they are removed as moderators. But they still never have to personally own up to their actions or what they have said.

Just knowing that people know who you are can sometimes do a LOT towards making people behave appropriately. Members and moderators alike.

Another possible solution for some of the issues on this forum would be an "ignore button". Some of the other forums I'm on have them, if you don't like reading what a person writes, you can put them on your ignore list and none of their posts will be visible to you. For those who really do want to avoid certain people, and not just complain about them while looking for their posts, this is a great feature.

We are responsible to Oli he knows who we are and that is what is important. Every moderator could use their real name and not one even wants  to use their old screen name.  That says something about the members here. Again it goes back on to some members.

So if they do not want to use there old screen names why would they want to use their real names?

it is also very unfair to be a moderator dealing with totally anonymous persons, when your real name is known. Members here have received death threats. Do you honestly think Oli is going to put a volunteer moderator in that position?

If there needs to be an IGNORE button.. then it should not be posted in the first place. If people do not know how to behave appropriately in the first place... that leaves me speechless!!!

OLI... Thank -you for everything you have done!

Which goes back to being put in a position of power, with no accountability to the people you have been put in power over.

There's no point in going back and forth about it, nobodies opinion is going to change.  But I do believe that is one of the big objections people have.  Especially when so far the moderators haven't exactly been professional.

We'll see how it plays out, like the other forums I frequent, when I get tired of something I'm seeing, I take a break or leave for good.  If it works well, then maybe I'll hang out here a little more.  Either way I doubt to many people will care LOL  I'm not a frequent poster, and I don't have GSD :-)

GSD

"Members have already chocked the life out of this forum."

I disagree....it is the members that breath life into this database.

Is it aginst the rules to disagree?

80% of the deleted post and threads are not because of
bad behavior.....they are deleted for not being in line.

I am not a disgruntled member...I just see things on both
sides.....A little to early to banned me just yet Moderator.

The earth does not move when you speak to me.

Dawn, the ignore feature isn't for an individual post, its for a poster.  ALL their posts become invisible.

I can't count how many time I've seen a person on this forum tell another poster they are doing their best to ignore that person, and not get drawn into an argument, fight, war, whatever.  But eventually they are goaded into reacting.  So give them the option of never even seeing the person's posts.  There are many reasons a person might want to put someone on ignore, it could be as simple as they don't feel that person has anything of value to add to a forum, and would prefer an easy way to just avoid their posts.

Anyway, I'm just throwing out ideas that I have seen work well on other forums.  If you don't like them, feel free to put me on ignore :-)
