General dog topics. Non-breed specific. Like feeding, husbandry, training issues and health issues.

Yes SM, you know the steps for arbitration.....you, like some others here who feel you are always being singled out by moderators simply bitch and moan......like you always have. Nothing is changing really, so don't get in more of a dither than you normally are.

I ask  this? Is the above  mentioned post that of a moderator or a new member?Either way:  from a member it should not even be here with fair and balanced moderation! From a moderator  we should now have one less !

So, how does the thread about Preston (with a moderators comment regarding Picasso) have anything to do with general dog topics? Or, the thread with a joke about kids in school using grown up language? Do not get me wrong, i truly enjoy some of the other threads (OT), which have been a part of the board. Obviously, some of the political threads can be a bit annoying, but I just avoid reading them when they become inflammatory. I am just curious where the line lies and what OT threads are acceptable, because it just sounds like in this thread that General Topics is limited to dog related subject matter, which is sad to restrict other social interaction. IMO. It would sure be nice for iPad users to be able to have paragraphs in their boxes, so it's not all run together. Just a pet peeve of mine, not a big deal. Thanks. The moderators seem to be helpful thus far! Renee

Davren --  I CLEARLY remember that Oli said some OT humor is OK.

The political and religious Threads have been gone for several months -- and that is "a good thing."

People are just people -- even in face-to-face conversation, we always trail off into different subjects.   I, too, think that is a good thing.   I personally like reading about posters' horses, other pets, hobbies other than dogs, etc.   I think it helps in building a "Forum relationship."

But......(there is always that "But") ... Why is there a German Shepherd "side" to the Forum?   If the feeding/training/husbandry is to be discussed on General Topics (per the Moderator), then the GSD side is reserved for _____???

Maggie, the "forum relationship" is a great term to describe it! I also recall Oli saying it is acceptable as OTs. I think the the German shepherd side is restricted to GSD only, while the General side includes all breeds. Renee

GSD's.  This side is for all breeds.  We GSD'ers just seem to monopolize it.

Why would anyone even care so much?  If the conversation is unoffensive and fluid? Why such problems with content/control issues, it is just bandwidth, it isn't like it is taking up space in anybodies', or a moderators' living room. It is easy to tell when there is a real problem and conversation drift is not it, IMHO

Someone intentionally trying to derail a thread, that is something else, and not nice. I like mods to be reasonable and human.   Kind of like, no harm no foul. Since ....  it is the Season of Wishes!
