my name is not Robin, but I do know what one sold for.  You could get a couple of kids through Stanford on that living well.

After these dogs are purchased at ridiculous prices what do the people do with them? Are they lawn ornaments or are they sitting on the couch getting fat watching Oprah all day?

I have heard of extrodinary prices paid for top show dogs that placed highly in the Sieger Show in Germany.  The highest I heard was for Larus Batu.  That may be out of date by now.
I think, however, that the exhorbitant prices paid for top dogs is "for the most part" confined to the top show dogs.
I know personally of one working dog owner/trainer/top competitor in Germany who was offered a huge sum for her eminently successful dog and although she considered the sale, as a working person without large financial backing, ultimately turned it down and could not part with the dog who had taken her to such esteemed levels of competition.
I would hope that for others such as she, there is more than money.  That the dogs who have taken them to high places would hold treasured status in their hearts and be considered true partners who could never be sold.  I truly respect those who keep their friends close.
