Would you please post a reply to the Pedigree database for me. I only have one e-mail and I do not want it to go out all over the web. Anyone with a true respect for our dogs and our sport are welcome to contact me. By the way, thank you for your comments.
Reply from Xuko vom Kraftwerk's handler/owner/trainer:
For those of you who have posted sincere concerns about how Xuko is doing after Nationals: Thank
you for your heartfelt concern. He is fully recovered and doing fine. He was not jammed by the helper.
The helpers knee inadvertently caught Xuko in the chest and with the momentum of the catch, his knee hooked under the dogs armpit and hyper-extended his left shoulder, which affected the soft tissue on his upper left side. The helper did a fine job. This is a fast paced, very physical sport, things like this will happen. I would not wish it on anyone. I am very grateful that Xuko is back to his playful self. The video of the catch was placed on You Tube so our veterinarians could view it to try to diagnose Xuko's injuries. This video along with a second video provided by a gracious, concerned attendee were extremely helpful towards Xuko's treatment and recovery. As for Xuko's prior injuries: yes he had back surgery before he was 2 years old due to a traumatic incident. His veterinarians have been and continue to be fully involved with his participation in this sport. Viaden's comments here are for her own personal purposes, not for any true concern for the dog. As for the wrap on Xuko's leg during Nationals: he cut the high pad on his leg while swimming. It did not affect his ability to work, a fact that was verified with a letter from his veterinarian. The on-going, hen-house, rumors that have been persistent on this web site were brought to my attention by several people. I tried to ignore Viaden's uneducated vindictiveness but this has gone on too long. Again, a very heartfelt thanks to those of you with sincere concerns for our dogs, our sport, our helpers and our handlers.
Merry Christmas to you all!

I think Viaden was under the impression somebody might blame the helper and she wanted to make sure nobody would.
There was a little jam.
Patric stated the dog went directly to the middle and it was a hard impact, he did all he could to absorb the dog. smaller dog maybe would have been better off. Xuco is a large dog and he went under with the fact that Patric's knee caucht up to his left body. which resulted in the injury.
So lets leave this be.. no bickering over a word please.
Have a nice Sunday..!

Charolette, you need to re-read your post. Xuko did not have a bad back. An accident (having nothing to do with the sport) dislocated a disk in Xuko's back. This was a very tragic accident and I did know about it. In no way did do people need to understand "this dog had a bad back and had surgery." Merry Christmas everyone!

Most people would consider a dog that has had an injury to the spine, and then surgery to repair that injury, as having a 'bad' back--you certainly can't consider it to be a 100% sound spine once it's had to have surgical intervention. Whether or not the dog should have been retired from recreational sport work after that injury is not something I'd care to speculate on, as he's not my dog. Why do you keep throwing in the commentary about the dog's temperament or how wonderful a dog he is, as if there had been anyone opining on those traits, however? That only serves to obfuscate the point being discussed, i.e. whether or not a large dog who had a surgery to repair a disk in his history was more or less prone to being reinjured doing Schutzhund-related activities.
