Oli, my ex bf had an iceladic; his had wavy hair. Do they all have wavy hair or just some of them?

"The damn horse huggers think they did them a favor by banning slaughter in the USA. Guess what? Now they get to look like this and then when they're finally taken to the auction, they get trucked to Canada or Mexico to be killed. Yay! They sure helped, didn't they? They'd have been better off humanely killed in the US. " AMEN!

Jenn, I am not disagreeing with you at all.  Actually we almost agree completely.  The only thing I will disagree about is "...The problem is the mentality of many horse people- they're hoarders and they see them as disposable livestock...."   I don't think there are as many horse people with that mentality as dog people, puppy mills take much less space.......  People should not breed equines just because, anymore then people should breed dogs just because.......  Yet people do so........   The skinny picture is closer to what I've been seeing, as you had not yet posted it, my comment about they looked in pretty good shape was based on the pictures of the black and bay you had posted.....  I agree 100% with what you said here......  "The damn horse huggers think they did them a favor by banning slaughter in the USA. Guess what? Now they get to look like this and then when they're finally taken to the auction, they get trucked to Canada or Mexico to be killed. Yay! They sure helped, didn't they? They'd have been better off humanely killed in the US."

If I lived closer I would want more information on the youngster behind the extremely thin one you just posted.......

Cost?  I am located in the Pacific Northwest area, moderate climate.  I have four equines (two mules and two ponies) with good sized pastures.  All easy keepers.
My annual equine vet bill is normally around $800, that is when there are no emergencies and none need dental work.  This next one will be much higher as my old pony is getting very old......
My annual worming medications are about $200
My annual farrier bill, trimmed not shod, is about $1,000
My annual feed bill is around $2,800
To have an equine euthanized in my area can run close to $1000 (the last one I had to have done was 8-years ago and cost $700). Vet to come administer the shot, rendering truck to come pick up the body. Most places around here have zoning regulations against euthanizing your own animal and burying an equine, or any large animal, on your property.

Peace....

Could they be Paso Finos? Size sounds about right and that would explain the gait as I understand it. Colors are right from the ones I've seen. And the smaller hooves.

I considered Paso Finos...but they're too small, I think, even for them.  I'm pretty convinced now that no one is definitely sure about anything that they must be mixes. Their feet are very small- like they're not supposed to be much, if any, bigger than they are right now.

Animules, what about the one behind the skinny one? If I emailed you the rest, would you tell me if anything catches your eye?

Like I said, no way I can save them all, but if we can get a few nice ones who aren't injured (many of these had injuries or deformities) I might be able to spare a few. I have room for one more, maybe 2, but if someone could say 'that one's a nice__________" I could try to give them away as such. There are people around here who are simply too lazy to try to sell/give them away. I have seen it many times- someone is called to pick up a horse that is in horrid condition and the person hasn't even tried to get rid of it. It's infuriating.
