Bob-O

Melba, the dog can be examined and scored anytime during its life by the S.V.. There is but one (1) examination allowed for breed book candidacy and as you know the dog must be a minimum age of twelve (12) months for this examination. Of course since 2005 the elbows must achieve a passing rating as well in order for the dog to receive registration in the S.V. breed book.

If you have only the hips examined, the S.V. will still provide a hips "a" stamp on the pedigree but they will not assign a S.V. registration number. Again, these days passing elbows are required as well. There is no doubt that these hips are "a" Normal and very likely O.F.A. "Excellent". Very nice.

Best Regards,

Thank you Preston and Bob-O

My question with these xrays is this: Can I send xrays that were taken 2 years ago by the previous owners in to the SV or do I need to wait until the transfer of ownership is complete before retaking and sending in. I'm not sure what the SV requires in reguards to identification on the xrays themselves. They do not give the dog's full name or registration number but do state the previous owner's name and veteranarian's name.

I was quite happy when I finally received the xrays but will probably have them redone along with elbows once all the paperwork is complete ( ugh!) . I will be bringing in these xrays to my vet because the last xrays taken left a little to be desired in the positioning department though they did receive an OFA good, elbows normal.

Melissa, I personally would wait until all of the documents are transferred with the S.V.. If I am not mistaken, the radiographs must be fairly recent, as in not more than six (6) months from the date of the radiograph to the date of submission. I could be wrong and thinking of another hip registry.

Best Regards,
Bob-O

Thank you Bob-O, that was kind of what I was thinking. Just wait for paperwork and have her hips and elbows done at the same time.

Thank you again
