Hands down one of the nicest borders I ever met was a show/work cross. Beautiful obedience, clear head, nice looking. I fostered a working line BC who was supposedly from english import lines and I loved him dearly but he was a screwball.

Also, I understand the feeling toward show BCs all too well from the working BC community, but I like them as well and they do make nice companions for someone who has less experience with a drivey dog.

KCazja, I agree with you 100%.  My sister's BC is 1/2 WL and 1/2 SL. She is the perfect dog for a slightly active person or a real active person. She can turn it on when asked and has plenty of drive and herding instinct.  She will chase a frisbee all day if you want her too or she also lay at your feet all day if necessary.  She is also a therapy dog AND a hearing dog. She is very adaptable and truthfully one of the most well rounded dogs I've ever been around and she is gorgeous too.
The best,
Char
