Pharaoh

by Pharaoh on 02 February 2010 - 20:02

I keep Pharaoh's collar snug and properly positioned.

Keith,

I can only imagine the great hijinks that would go on with my prancy, punky, pony puppy on a gentle leader. hahahahah....

Stacy,

It is not that I care what they think.  I care about what they can do.  Complaints about dogs would change the permissive attitude about letting them wander inside of retail stores.

Pharaoh is not like Fifi or Princess.  He is a big boy and he is spunky.  I need the prong to guarantee that I am in full control and there are no incidents of bucking and rearing up.  He is about the maturity of a 7-9 month old in some ways.  He is now starting to become biddable and I am really making headway.  But, we are not there yet.

Most people do not live in places that allow dogs into stores that are not pet stores.  I have never seen a shepherd or rottie or mal.  I see yorkies and westies and poodles etc.  This is a manners training oportunity.  The narrow ailes are great for doing turns and heeling patterns. The county just north would never allow all this.  I would have to drive 4 hours to Carmel by the Sea for comparable freedom.

The main reason I use the Neck Tech around the general public as in pet stores is not because I am worried about what the less knowlegeable might say to me, but because I don't really WANT the folks who do not know how to use a prong to be encouraged to do so when they notice my dog is so well behaved!!!!!  I know a pinch can be very abusive in the wrong hands while in mine that is not the case.

You would love the things from The Wag, Michele.  I have a couple of lovely show or trial type leads that are rounded and very beautiful but sturdy also and I just got a super agitation lead of adjustable lengths.  Going to have an agitation harness custom made for Polo with some other specific detailing.  I expect to enjoy these leather products a long time.  Barb
