You have to ask yourself if taking on the fight is worth your time and effort. I find AKC worthless most times when it comes to things like this. Maybe they have gotten better over the years but I doubt it.
I place dogs/puppies into homes with no registration and if the person wants to work the dog, they can come to me and ask for the paperwork. I do register dogs into my name and can always transfer it over should it need to be done.

I learned the hard way when I sold a puppy into a pet home and on my contract it requires first right of refusal. The person who bought the dog tried to sell the dog back to me for almost double of what they paid. When I couldnt come up with the money, they sold the dog to someone else and claimed they bred the dog themselves. I was planning on sueing them but they moved out of their house and left no fowarding. Lesson learned.

Like Beardog says, there will always be people that will for whatever reason justify in their own head, that what they are doing is right even if it isnt. These people knew what they were doing was wrong but the profit was too much for them to pass up. At least they got the dog xrayed. You can always take them to small claims court or Judge Judy. If you choose Judge Judy let us know and we will all watch.

Thanks to every one who gave advice.  I just read on the akc site saying that they will not get involved on the status of the registration it is between parties involved. only when there is a bill of sale will they initiate an inquiry on the matter.
so I guess lesson be learned and AKC  will not  do anything.  it is between buyer and seller and probably not worth taking to court it would be more money and effort than it would be worth.

next time I will cut the nmbers out If they go limited
