I did not attend the WUSV nor did I watch it on SV Media, so I just go by what I have been reading for the past couple of days now - comments by dozens of people. According to them, the judge was really "boohed out" numerous times.
What is your opinion?
Chris

Some of that animosity, not all but some, I would imagine would come as a result of a friggin' Canadian coming to Fatherland of GSD and judging on "their" turf, I would imagine, some of it was probably from people that have vested interest for a particular dog, team or country to win, so cheering for your team can get heated. There was a lot of money, prestige, money, braging rights, money, great training, money, dedication and more money and more money on that field this past week, so I would magine people would boo if "their" favorite wasn't scoring high.

Some of it might be that somebody who is 100 feet away on the stands really can't see all there is to see as somebody who is 5 feet away as mr. Collins was at times, I dunno, all I can do is speculate, I don't really have any answer.

I was in Krefeld!  Lots of comment re the judge on here but in the stands the most adverse comments I heard were about the helpers!  The tests were not fair in all cases and they failed to present the dog top the judge correctly.  Lance had to do alot of walking around to see the dogs especially in the second part of the tests.

Unfotunately I missed the 100 point round!  Hope somebody has a video of part 1 of the round that they can post on YouTube!

How many of you commenting on the judging on here are judges yourselves?

You were at Krefeld so you saw what it was all about, Did not Mr Collins give his resume at the end of each phase of the exercise, for instance he would say shallow bite etc then proceed to say good Exercise then go on to another part and again say good exercise when a few seconds earlier it was not a good at all and when he gave out the results they too were not good so the exercises as he read them out was certainly not good
Yes he sure did some moving about and at times got in the way of us people viewing
Never the less it was the Helper on the first phase which i still maintain was mostly at fault certainly he caused a lot of problems for the dogs in the escape, and saying that a lot of the time it was not the fault of the dogs but he of course cannot be wrong only the dog and the crowd let him know it,, His technique had much to be desired and he for sure was not strong enough to handle some of the Dogs, they pulled him around like a leaf in the wind at times, I only saw it on the Thursday and Sunday not the other two days,
But one thing was different i never heard any booing for the Obed Judge who i thought was a hard but fair judge the way it should have been
Anyway it is over and done with and i guess the same will come up after the 2010 WUSV in Spain, it will be a miracle if it does not

Now the Entrants of the WUSV team will again compete against each other shortly again for the Belgian National Championships to be held by my Club end of this month, this Saturday they will all come to our Club to train Como, Arco etc will be there plus other good dogs so i will see them working again but closer up. as i will be practicing what job i have to do on the big day, and i am looking forewords to it immensely

Wellllllll, I was not at Krelfeld and I did not watch the video..

:-) However, I DO know that there was a brouhaha over the judging assignment in the first place. So, I would have to wonder who much of the broiling on the German boards was instigated/whipped up/orchestrated or otherwise influenced by ??????.

Consider this:

"Someone" sent a letter to Germany from Canada a year or so ago, protesting the assignment to Collins. The assignment was, as I understand it, withdrawn as a result. The Canadian schutzhunders got wind of "The Letter," made a protest and demanded a copy. The then-president of the GSSCC ( German Shepherd Schutzhund Clubs of Canada) denied writing the letter. An "investigation" by GSSCC failed to identify the writer of the letter and the Germans would not produce a copy. But, the assignment WAS reinstated. Feel free to review the GSSCC site for information on this, as reflected in meeting minutes, etc.

I first want to see some video to actually comment on Lance Collins' judging.

speculations are not my strongest. Mystere, knows something that is not known to me and I will not respond to that. To me that is a speculation for now (not to be rude, mean or anything else Mystere) I am missing facts.

I trailed under this judge, he worked my dogs... knowlegable, very fair judge that did not forgive anything.
I like them like that...

I would like to congratulate to all participants. Great job, keep it up and all the best wishes for next year.

Lance has been around for a long time folks...and he has seen a lot of dogs....!!! Again...Ive done helper work under Lance Collins.....2003 North Americans....and he is his own man! Very opinionated and quite knowledgeable. He can be controversial but all in all a fair man! How in the world can a judge be in the way of the spectators......isn't HE there to judge the dogs??? I like the way he is right there during all phases of the gripping. I must say, some of you critics need to put on a sleeve and work 130 something dogs in 4 days

That's why I referred people to the GSSCC website, Pack and mentioned specifically that the information is in the organization's own meeting minutes.   Nothing "speculative" or secretive about it--it's there in black and white.

Lance is a former president of the organization, btw.

I've got some photos to share.  Unfortunately, I missed out on the action shots for the big guys like Eric Sportpark, Javir, Sam, Satoris Gator, Erri, Como and a few others.  Being at the wrong place at the wrong time.  A lesson I will learn is to study the timetable!!!  Guess I can be forgiven attending the WUSV for the first time with all the excitement around.

Poseiden
You have some really excellent Shots there beautifully Clear and close up thank you for sharing them
I tried to get some of Como early but the Camera did not like it at all with the really flood lighting and being underneath the canopy of the stands, all i got was one of him going round the Blinds, I tried again on the next compeitor, but is was too early in the day for mine regardless of what setting i used, So i gave it up as a bad job so i would not miss the action
