The are just as fast as Malinois or Dutch Sheps. ----please Dave tell that to the folks in Chicago. I'm tried of them bashing the gsd breed constantly. Every trainer I talk to has to say something smart about the gsd breed in general and how they will never compare to the mal or dutchie. Makes me want to put their money where their mouth is

When looking for a potiontal candidate for Ring Mal’s are much easier to fing and a lot cheaper to buy than GSD’s. This is a big reason they dominate the sport IMO.---Jay I agree with you there. One reason I would lean towards the mal but they have too much energy for me..i might get to fustrated. Back in the day dogs never cost thousands and thousand of dollars just a few hundreds. I guess my main concern is i don't want my gsd to get hip dysplasia #1 priority!

Britney Im a big PSA person to but now that I see the ring sport and how much malinois are dominating that field I'm curious to know if i could title a gsd to level 3 in FR. I would like to do both to be quite honest....just got to figure out how to avoid being to hard on the gsd joints.

At the French ring championship 2008 "la finale de ring" there was 26 dogs competing. 24 Malinois, 1 Tervueren and 1 German Shepherd.

The GSD was ULKO DES GUERRIERS DU CREPUSCULE (http://www.pedigreedatabase.com/gsd/pedigree/466304.html)

He placed 21 out of 26 with these scores 373,758 353.100 726.858

To piggyback of Jay's comment here. You can see Ulko's work here, in video:

You would be hard pressed to find a better object guard, usualy a weave basket in these trials than what this dog is demonstrating. The damn dog actualy consciously puts his leg(s) in between the handles of the basket just in case, then he "talks" to the helper about his visit.

I have been following this dog for alittle while, as it seems he is a badass French Ring GSD, which is not all that common.

Damn good dog anyway anyone cuts it, by any standards, in any country, anywhere.

That is one good dog! Nice training, nice alpha tail set, nice routine.... I hope that he gets a chance to spread his genes around.  He obviously likes to take on the decoy.
