Trust me when I say the picture's are fine!!! It is very difficult to get good shots with a puppy. Heck I still have trouble and mine are not puppies anymore :-))  It sounds like you 2 are bonding very well together!!! Can't wait to see him all grown up.

Thanks everyone for the comments.

As most of you know I am still new here, I am also new to the breed. I take corrective criticism very well. So with that being said I would just simply like to ask (none of this has been done, just trying to keep it from happening!) that if something I say does not set right with you please send me a private message or an email. If I am wrong about something I will admit it. I am here to learn and want you guys to help me, not discourage me.

OK! now that all that is out of the way I have some news to pass on. The last couple of days have been very good with trooper. He would not play a lot but loves his treats and his rawhide.  He has started to chew everything in site so we have had to keep a clean house! He has not been very playful towards my other dog either. But today was a new day and I was full of surprises today.

Today he managed to go down 12 stairs by himself with nobody around to help him. Up till today he would just sit at the top of the stairs and we would have to help him down and he was scared to death! Not today though.....has has been up and down the stairs now more times than I can count. He has it mastered now.  I spent some time with my other dog today, and tried to play with her for a bit since she feels left out, even though she is not. As I started playing with her, Trooper began to do the same thing. He would jump on her, bite her ears and even started barking. It will still take some time for tawney(my other dog) to get use to having a play mate amongst her.

After that I grabbed troopers towel that we have in a knot. He has a good grip on things and I tug with him for a few seconds then let him have it and do it all over again. Then I grabbed a tennis ball and showed it to him(up till today he wanted nothing to do with a ball) and I threw it. Boy he pounced on the ball like it wa the devil!!! I called him back told him to sit, he sat and I told him to give it to me and he did!!!! I threw it a few more times just to see if he was really into it and sure enough, he could not get enough of that ball. So as of right now, I think that he is going to have good ball drive but we will have to wait and see. He pretty much has mastered the art of walking on the left side and sticking close to my leg. Today he was introduced to my neighbor acrossed the streets 4 month old silver and white german shepherd. The neighbors dog is scared of his own shawdow, and that is sad I really feel for that dog he is going to need a lot of work, but trooper done really well with him.

So, all in all today was a great day and this GSD has made me very happy, and it is going to be such a joy to work with this dog. This has been the best investment that I have ever made with my money.

So......anyone with some pointers on throwing a ball? and what about the tug o war thing with the towel? I am sure there is suppose to be a way of doing it and I would love any and all comments regarding these. I need to get outside with him more, but its just been to freakin cold! I need to get out and do some walking and training with him before we start the obeidiance training.

Bring the comments on! :)

That is awesome that he is coming around and doing what he is doing. For the towel playing I would personally use a shami {sp}. WIth towels, etc they can get their teeth caught on them and I've found out with a schutzhund trainer that it's best to use a shami and it also helps them to grip better and harder on it as it is slippery for them. What kind of ball or you using? If your using a tennis ball I would switch to a very hard undestructable rubber ball. The tennis ball's they can destroy pretty fast and they also have like a glue substance that I wouldn't want my dogs getting into. That is just my 2 cents!!!
I think you are going to have many years of great fun and learning with this gorgeous guy!!!
