The back looks funny.I would worry about it as the dog ages.

If it was my dog then i would definately get another opinion from another vet , one of my dogs has a very slight roach back but nothing in comparison to your pup .

Good luck with him and i hope it all works out well .

There looks to be something wrong, however, I have known dogs that take a while (maturity) to "settle into their frames".  Not all parts grow at the same rate sometimes and he is still very much a baby.  The photos are not the best either!

Go back to the breeder and ask.  You can get good advice on here but... not always!  Some, (me included) can be a little abrupt, but do not mean to offend, others do nothing but offend... intentionally, such is life, take it with a pinch of salt... I guess there's not much love / sex in their lives?  LOL

Yes, he does have a roach, my feeling is it looks worse than it is because of the photos.  I only see one photo were the dog's expression looks pouty to me. First photo, second post. Ever try to get a puppy to stop moving to take a free pic? Hey! Ah! Stop! Wait! Which can give more sensitive dogs a sort of , "What? what did I do?" expression.  In pain and unhappy, sorry, I have to disagree.  Remember when a certain poster accused a breeder of abusing a puppy because it had a pout on in a photo? She got chewed out, as well she deserved, but now its ok?

Do the following and get a photo: Take a treat or ball or something he wants, walk backward and get him to follow you with his head up, and get someone to take the photo, if he's walking, that's fine. That will give a much better indication of his topline then what you have taken.

Don't worry about the white spot, many fine dogs have it. I'd be more concerned about a correct topline.

To me it also looks like a lot of pain. This extreme roach back is not normal at all and is also not age related.
You better have his urine checked urgently. Could be a kidney infection or anything wrong with his back. Did you check the temperature of this poor boy???
ck.

Joe, a gangly baby, poor photographs, and fodder for the showline bashers, who are all wannabe vets too!
Come back in 6 months or so and prove them wrong. Dont let em bash your baby!

Didn't read all opinions here but read enough to agree with some posts so I won't repeat it.  My 2 cents is about the expression on the pups face...looks the same as one of our girls gets when the "Queen" (our alpha bitch) is close to her!  So I was wondering if you have another dog that is very alpha.

It would be interesting too see an X-ray of his spine he looks(sorry) deformed.
when you stack him does the hump straighten out?some stack pics would be good:)

he does look to be in pain but as others have said that could just be bad pics. one of my girls broke a toe last year (no idea how??) we only found out she had done this when clipping her nails, she wasn't limping .
you cant always tell when your dog is in pain (esp if its a long term issue) but looking at his body language he does appear to be.

if he were mine i would get x-rays done and speak to the breeder .
are all the litter mates the same?

any case i wouldn't be happy if he were mine:( poor lad

no offence intended:)

Mystere, you are right in that dogs will carry on in pain and look like nothing is going on. Joe, this is in no way a slam to you, not at all (I've had working dogs for years and am a paramedic used to reading body language to gauge pain in people). I had a 2 yr old female that I received a BH on and had the judge tell me what a beautiful mover she was, very flashy. She has a great temperment and is a work-a-holic. I took her in for her OFAs so I could breed her (yes good working lines as was the male) and the Radiologist who is the go-to man for all OFAs said she has no left hip, not displastic or deformed, missing entirely, just smooth bone with a deformed head of the femur and ball with SEVERE arthritis and a good sized space between hip and pelvis, muscle, tendon, ligaments holding it in place. Apparently she was born that way and has been in pain since the day she was born. He could barely tell she had issues pre-x-ray and he is considered the expert. No one in my club or my trainer could tell because she covered it so well. She has since been retired and spayed. But the gist is, unless you get an expert opinion, like a vet check or x-rays, you may never know what is going on pain wise. The body language is a good way to gauge. Take your dog to the vet and get x-rays, the body language of the pictures suggest there may be something there. Again, not a slam to you in any way. I am sure you love your dog and want to be the best onwer in the world.

Joe just does not take good pictures.  That doesn't mean his dog is in pain;  his pictures are just not be very good.
A bad picture can make a top VA dog look roachy or cowhocked as discussed  many times previously on the board.
It is always good to rule out medical issues which Joe has stated he has done. Joes pictures of his dog are not well posed; lets not condem his dog to be near death based on some not so great pictures!!!!!!!   The hardest part is getting a third person to stand in front to get the dogs attention and to get the head up with a toy or ball or whistle. Without being stacked and with the head down ALL dogs will look more roached than they are. Sure he is lanky at this age and looks espercially roached in the pictures. The lack of proper stance exagerates the roach of the back.  Give the dog a few months to develop then get someone with experience in taking GSD pictures and stacking the dog to help you out.

Also if the ear doesn't go up soon then you should set it. I would email you directions if you update your profile with an email address.
