k9mamma,
Around here pet quality price is $350.00, not  $800.00.
Don't know where your from but thats a bit steep.
I'm sure on this board you will hear that differently.
No breeding rights usually means  the animals not fit to breed, but if you pay an extra $500.00 its ok?
Total bull shit in my opinion.
You gotta watch these people sometimes.

You can't be stopped from breeding, only registering the litter.

Unfortunately I have heard of a breeder doing this here in Michigan. She charges so much for the puppy and then down the road if you decide to breed she charges you more. I personally think it's ridiculous to do this, and is a HUGE SCAM. I personally sell ALL my pups on a limited, and then if you decide to breed this said puppy down the road you HAVE to show PROOF of passing hips before I take the limited off and turn it into a full registration. The charge to do this is on me not the new owners.  I have always done this without a hitch. It protects the dog/breeder/seller.

Most people I know when they sell one on limited reg. also have a spay/neuter contract and usually by 7-8 mths of age so no accident breeding happens (there is enough as someone said in this world without someone not knowing what they are doing, want kids to see a live birth and the such to put more into shelters) for me I keep akc papers until I get proof from the new owners that the pup has been spayed neutered I have never had a problem with anyone and everyone always gets their papers within a wk of proof. Not all pups in a litter is show/breeding/working quality most is pet quality and most just want a family companion. I give a nice discount to ones that want just a pet only and they know they have to get him/her fixed.

Usually, buyers have a pretty good ideas of what they want.  Sometimes some of them talks about maybe breeding once etc..For me, the conditions are the same.

1) If you want the right to breed, you must put titles on the dog and work to know the GSD.  Learn about standard, come to shows and see what fields your interest are.  When the dog get the titles.
2) I evaluate both structure and temperament to see if in fact this is a good breeding prospect
3) The dog has to be certified HIP and Elbow (hip rating good or better).  If the Hip comes back fair then we look deeper into ancestors and siblings to see if we should really use this dog.
4) Then if every pieces of the puzzle is there you can have the right to breed.  I will remove the conditions and you are free to fly by yourself!

This is my way of seing it.  If you want to breed..you have to go to school first..Then after seing all that is implicated about breeding a GSD, you will have a better ideas if yu can do it to.

If someone comes to me and want a show quality puppies then the price goes accordingly with the pups that is chosen.  But the conditions up are the same..I want people who are implicated..it's important for me
