" I really want a good GSD, for to me, there is no dog that compares to the GSD, in appearance, courage, and intelligence"

Crystal,I agree, and if I didn't previously have a dog like you described, I'd think they didn't exist.

I am becoming very disallusioned about the workinglines too. We've forgotten to breed for courage, and fight drive, after all, now they just have to play with a sleeve.

Uglydog is spot on IMHO about getting rid of schutzhund sport. When anyone focuses on one aspect, the rest falls by the wayside, wether it be looks or sport.

Uglydog ......... I must have missed something, althought I try to follow along.  You want to abolish Sch.   AND have all dogs go to working homes?

And who is to say that a pet home is not a "working" home?  I sold a female to a couple that has 5 kids..... a 6 year old ... a 5 year old ..... twin 3 year olds and an infant.  I would dare to wager that this dog does more herding and gaurding on a daily basis than any sport dog ever thought about.  I know this as I've been to the park with this family.

Sorry ....... but I may in fact have another litter prior to having a sheep herder waiting list
