Flywolf,thank you very much for the excellent photos.In the photos of the VA females I am a little confuses as to who the female is with the handler in the all blue tracksuit.For me personally she looks the best but I accept you cannot tell from one photo.So please,who is she and how is she bred?

How would you know that Chairman Mao wouldn't have liked GSD's?

It is a useful breed of dogs. Not just for Western fancy.

 Who said anything about "Western fancy" versus any other kind?   Or, anything about usefulness?   This is about a SHOW, correct?  Nothing about usefulness--a show.  Were there ANY type of confo5rmation shows (dog or otherwise) during Mao's regime?  I doubt it very seriously.    Just as there were no Starbucks coffe shops and (heaven forfend) Big Macs, although there were surely beef dishes.  THAT's my point.  Not whether he would have liked gsds, or found them useful.  Lighten up!!

Why is protection work in ScH not useful? It is not just a show, I'd think. Aren't those top pics protection ScH demos?

Athough I currently have an American showline GSD, she still has an important protection function. She is very alert  and smart. Bite work might not be as useful in a modern and urban area.
