Their is always 2 side's to a story. Why did this person back out? Most buyers have good reasons, very few do not.

What was his reason??

yes if he has now decided he wants the pup, and you have decided you don't want to sell it to him after all (good for you) - then yes you need to return his deposit.  Say "bye bye" -

good move on your part.

Ross   this is a good move since he has changed his mind twice what happens if he does it again after the said pup is in his hands. The last thing you want is to have the pup in a shelter cause he doesn't want it or has found a pup of his liking better.

THANKS FOR ALL YOUR RESPONSES.  I SPOKE TO MY LAWYER.  HE SAID MY CONTRACT EXPLAINS EVERYTHING TO A "T" AND THAT I DO NOT HAVE TO GIVE THE DEPOSIT BACK.  AS STATED ABOVE, I WILL GIVE HIM HIS MONEY BACK, BUT I AM SENDING IT REGISTERD MAIL AND DEDUCTING THE COST OF POSTAL SERVICE.  I AM ADVISING HIM THAT I AM SENDING THE MONEY BACK, NOT BECAUSE OF HIS THREATS TO TAKE ME TO SMALL CLAIMS COURT, BUT FOR THE WELL BEING OF MY PUPPY THAT I DO NOT WANT HIM TO HAVE.  HOPEFULLY HE WILL NOT CONTACT ANY OF YOU!!

Ross I think you did what was right for the sake of your pup and I wouldn't worry about him contacting you. We all get customers that change their minds once in a while, it happens we move on and probably never hear from them again. AGAIN YOU DID THE RIGHT THING
