I am planning on getting a malinois sometime in the near future.  However, I was curious if there were any differences between males and females.  I have read a lot of different things, and I just wanted to get another opinion.

If Iwas you I would got to see as many Malinois females working and talk with the owners,be aware that a good trainer or handler can make the dog look better than it is.Also what are you looking for is it sport or a real dog that is hard, look at lines there is show line dogs and working dogs, the working dogs are bred with better genetics .females are allot of fun they are smaller, which can be easier to handle and in some areas of training are better than a larger male .

I handle both females and males and like them equally ,for my needs I like a stronger temperment for my male he is from all KNPV dogs which produce a harder type dog which can be challenging in training, but they will protect you nomatter what. Our female is out of mondio lines which produce a tough dog as well but she is smaller and is easier to handle for my wife and daughter. Then there is price pupps can go from $500.00-$1300.00 depending on lines ,titles, and temperment.

Regardless the dog you purchase it should be sound , healthy and exactly what you want,if you want check out nashvillek9.com Ali is a freind of mine and has good stock. If you have any questions you may email me at k9unit5@yahoo.com good luck.

Thanks.  I am actually hoping to get one and have it trained for personal protection.  I am good at handling all types of dogs, but since I myself am a petite female, I need one that won't get away from me too easily
