BLITZEN,UTTER POPPYCOCK,PLEASE LOOK UP TRUE DEFINITIONS OF BOTH WORDS.AND ALSO THE WORD SHEPHERD.  I OWN GERMAN SHEPHERD DOGS,WHO HAVE WORKED OUR SHEEP FARM FOR THREE GENERATIONS OF MY FAMILY AND THEY ARE SIMPLY THE BEST IMHO.  FUNKY MUNKY

Utter poppycock?  I haven't heard that expression since I stopped watching British films.

Who said GSD's are not good at tending sheep? Not me. Did you even read my post? You try to put a spin on everything, don't you? I know the difference between tending and herding, Do YOU?

Actualy GSD's can do both tend and herd. Depending on area and the needs of the shepherd master. Sometimes 2 dogs are used to tend or hold the sheep or herd and another goes out and in to hold a sheep or bring strays back to the herd. I'm trying to warm my dogs up with the tending aspect (move the cows here, hold the cows here) and maybe move on the grips and more complicated stuff later (cut that one out of the herd and bring him over here). I'm not working with 5-10 sheep but 25-100 cattle, we don't want to excite and stampeed the SOB's. =P

TRUE TO FORM,RUDENESS AGAIN!!! BUT IT IS NICE TO SEE YOU ADMIT THE GSD CAN DO OTHER THINGS.WHO SAID THERE WAS A DIFFERENCE BETWEEN TO TEND AND TO HERD,YOU!! BUT MY DICTIONARY BASICALY SAYS THEY ARE MUCH THE SAME.  SORRY TO DISAPOINT YOU BLITZ BUT I WILL NOT BE DRAWN INTO ANOTHER SLAGGING MATCH WITH YOU.THIS THREAD IS TO CLOSE TO MY HEART AND I WILL NOT LET IT BE DEGRADED BY YOU.LOVE TO SEE SO MANY PEOPLE INTERESTED IN USING THE SHEPHERD FOR HERDING.NOT A LOT OF INTEREST IN MY AREA,ONLY 3 FARMS I KNOW OF,ALL THE REST HAVE BORDERS.IMO THEY DO NOT KNOW WHAT THEY ARE MISSING,MY 4BOYS ARE A SIGHT TO BEHOLD. That's a great link, 4pack. Thanks. Is there an instinct test that is applicable to tending breed dogs only?

Forget your meds or what? I don't know you and have never seen your dogs work. For all I know you don't even have a dog. "Passing by just drop in"? From what you have posted on other threads, I don't even live on the same side of the earth as you. Did you fall out of bed and land on your head this morning?
