In Ecuador I do not think many street dogs make it to 8 years - they get run over!
Anyway, I know that different breeders and vets have many different opinions on this issue, but I think much depends on individual circumstances, why you are breeding, if there is a special oppurtunity to use a particular stud dog, the condition of the female and whether she had 4 puppies last time or 9. Also if the female is training for competition, or if she produces particularly good puppies. I personally think 2 litters then skip a cycle is good, if the litters were small and the female in good health, but that has never worked for me because one of my females is difficult to get pregant and the other is training in obedience, so misses cycles for this.
