We harvest a lot of wild mushrooms here in PA every year. My rule of thumb is "if you aren't sure what is, don't even touch it bare-handed!"  Anything that looks like it grows out of a "ball" at the base will likely kill,. ( Amanitas) Anything with "pimples" is out.. Few dogs will eat toxic mushrooms, thank God!

Those type of mushrooms are very common all throughout the eastern united states.  When it rains frequently or have areas where there is dirt that stays moist all the time they are very prone to grow.  Put your mower deck extra low and cut your lawn frequently, it can help out some.
