Why is the white German Shepherd now an "American German Shepherd" ?
Because its in America.
In Switzerland the same thing is a Swiss White Shepherd;
In Canada its a Canadian White Shepherd

In Timbuctoo its bound to be a Timbuctonian White Shepherd before long.

$$$$$$$ !

hundmutter,
lets change the name of the german shepherd because its not in germany?!?!

shouldnt there be a slight difrence between the founding dogs of the breed and the breed that was created, if we want to keep the founding dogs why create a new breed??   wolves founded all the dogs so let us all keep wolves.

slamdunc, I do remember that happening, I forgot that was the same episode though.  My favorite dog on that show is Auggie and Deuce.....K9 "Auggie" is who I named my pup after.

IMO there are many very attractive sables GSD's from all lines that could never be mistaken for a Belgian by anyone who knows anything at all about dogs. The man off the street can't tell the difference between a GSD and a tri colored Corgi, so what?

I think many of the WL's I've seen in person and in photos do look much like the dogs Bee posted here. Other than having shorter legs, and maybe thicker coats, many WL's are very similar in type. Overall we consider those dogs to be too plain or even just plain ugly. Breeding for show wins dictates we breed for a "pretty" "fancy dog"; the majority of WL dogs don't meet that definition. Want a GSD that looks like one of the foundation dogs? Look at dogs bred by the WL breeders who are more concerned about performance than looks. They are out there and any breeder wanting to do so can go back to the future in 4 generations or less. It ain't rocket science - like begets like.

Nothing wrong with a pretty dog as long as its rock solid between the ears!!
