My dog is spayed like I said and I have noticed pictures of male dogs also on the DB that look in desperate need of a brushing too.  You can see the weather is still cold where they are, yet hunks are hair are falling out. The pooches know something we don't.

Agar, I bet your bitch comes into season a little early.

Mine came in about a month earlier than usual due to the wacky weather I think.

It is really cold right now in WI, a week of Temperatures not reaching above zero, BUT two weeks before that it was almost 50 deg.  Nice warm days and longer day light hours...  The coat starts to blow.

Thank you all for the responses.  WOW!  Guess they do know something we don't.

I just thought it was such an enormous amount of coat on the floor but, she looks and acts just as healthy and robust as ever so, guess it's just her cycle coming up and the extremes in temps plus longer days.

Just wonder why some do it and others don't?

Savage sheds a minimal amount and tends to have more of a medium length coat where Apache's is the shorter coat and it's always shedding.

Well, glad to hear it seems normal.

I have special heating pads in the floors of both kennel dog houses.  They seem to be comfortable.  Apache lies outside more than in anyway.  Neither of them ever seem bothered by the temps.

Thanks guys,
this is better than watching the groundhog!

I think it must mean an early spring!

Hey guys,

Yep, I've noticed the same thing with my dogs lately.  A couple of the girls are really blowing their coats and the others are just normal.  Our one girl in the house is almost bald she's been shedding so much in the last two weeks, our inside male just seems to be normal.

I sure like the idea of an early spring though!!!   The weather here in oregon has been so crazy lately,  Clear down to 10 degrees at night (which we never have this cold of weather) and doesn't get past 30 in the daytime. We were supposed to have snow last night and we've had more snow this year than in the last 10 to 20 years.  I'm sure hoping for some nice spring weather soon! BRRRRRRR!!!!

My Female has been loosing her coat since late December and went in her heat cycle on the 10 of January.  I can pull it out by just touching her.  It is very cold here as well and yes you are right as long as they don't get wet the are OK.. I have them in the kennel and they are inside at nights with a heater  the degree is 35-38 so that when they go out they are not in for a chock temperature wise 19-26 degree.   As long as they are protected against the wind they are OK the wind is the on there cost problems.  I guess most of us know that the bitches are coming in heat by the way they loose so much of there coat.  I give them BIOTIN once a day for two weeks and E-vitamins. So that helps them to get there coat back.  See you all later.
