I was looking to see if there are any kennels in the US that have strong KNPV lined dogs.  Every once in a while I find a dog that has a PH1 or 2 somewhere back a few generations.

I am training 2 GSDs with a Schutzhund club right now, but previously trained Malinois for PSA.  I am looking for a German Shepherd to train for PSA now.  I plan to do Sch with my male shepherd and then try him in PSA afterwards.  I am leery about putting him on a suit before he has perfected the sleeve.

PSA doesnt require the precision that Sch does, but it does require a more serious dog that is able to take more pressure.  I feel that a great place to start looking for that is within KNPV titled dogs.

Any help  our links would be appreciated.

I read the other thread and you said you trained with Mike D.  Why not get a dog from him?

Hey Don, thanks for the response.  Mike breeds pups, but they are mostly out of Sch dogs.  He has a litter coming up this spring that should be really nice.  It is a repeat out of his Eick and Daja.  I will certainly look at them as I have seen a couple pups out of the last breeding that were very impressive.

All of the dogs that he has for sale are older.  I would like a puppy and back to my original post, I am really looking for strong KNPV breeding.  There just dont seem to be many people with the KNPV dogs in the US and I would like to see more of them.  Since I train more for PSA, I find KNPV dogs to be more suited to the work.

I would prefer a serious civil dog with good grips over a dog with flashy OB and crushing calm grips any day.

Mike has great dogs and I could pay to import one from Holland if I wanted to spend $5,000 on a young adult, but I am really looking for a pup.

The reason you don't see the lines here often, is because it is not prevalant in the US.  It's kinda like asking sears where the swimsuit aisle is in the North Pole.

I wouldn't get so focused on finding dogs with KNPV, but rather on finding the right dogs themselves.    The description you are looking for sounds like what Mike's Eick is producing.

How about looking towards a Tiekerhook line dog?  Not neccessarily straight from Koos, but a pup with some serious civil.

Hey Don,

My male is an Eick son.  He is a very nice dog but he is young, about 18 months, so it is really a little too early to evaluate him on being very civil.  Mike has worked him as well as some other guys in that club and he definetely got the Eick grips.  One of the main reasons I bought Ivan was because of Eicks civil reputation.

Dont get me wrong, I am 100% satisfied with the dog and he will excel in Schutzhund, but I was just looking to see if there were breeders doing anything with the KNPV dogs.

Another guy that I train with has a Max son and he is very nice.  Young dog but but you can already see that he will be a little more civil.  I have seen a couple of Max litters and they all seem to be high drive and fairly dominant dogs.

So I will continue to watch for Max pups for sale as well as a few other littlers that I have been watching.

What female is your Eick son out of?

by KTaylor on 17 January 2008 - 20:01

He is out of Perry Lasmon.  Real nice dog, looks just like Eick.

Are you looking solely for GSDs or are you considering other breeds?

There is a guy near me that has a male who was the top KNPV producer a couple of years ago - he's the only dog to have sired an entire litter that titled in KNPV...he's a Dutchie though.
