I realized that Puck and Peddy were littermates AFTER I made the post. It was late and I was tired...I think my brain shut off a little before I was responding...hehehe

I know it is hard to find nice DDR males. There just doesnt seem to be very male DDR dogs at all.  I like the Schaferlesel, Felsenschloss and some of the Grafental lines. I like the dogs with nice big bone and really blocky heads.  My female has alot of the known DDR dogs in her pedigree, so when I find a nice male she is already line bred on him.

Jyl, I think there comes a time when you have to ask yourself, do I like nice big bone and really blocky heads, or does it matter more that all the dog's ancestors are from the east side of "the wall".  If the genetics mean more than the heritage, then your heads in the right place for good breeding, and there are nice big bone and really blocky heads to be found in other lines, without narrowing the diversity you find in the ever condensing gene pool of the "DDR" population.

If "100%" DDR means alot to you, I'd find the most unrelated stud you can find, that carries the characteristics you favor, or that your female needs emphasized.

jodagirl, to find how other dogs affect the ratings, following the higher ZW scores will indicate where some of the problems might lie.

I have both genetic and heritage in mine when chooseing a nice male to breed my DDR female too. I have wanted a pure DDR female for a very long time.  The DDR line dogs are deminishing very fast. Yes there are some nice ones out there...but they are far and few between. Unlike the West German workinglines.  The reason that I am asking for recommendations of nice DDR males now is so that I can make the best choice that will cross well with my female, so I do have my head in the right place for good breeding.

I am also have a nice Czech female. She is not 100% Czech, she is about 90%. Her name is Aida vom Dukenheim. She has a little west german working in her pedigree. I really like the Czech and DDR lines. These are the dogs that I want in my breeding program.

I appreciate all the information from the people that have responded on here and also emailed mer personally.

I had an Ernie son, and wasn't too pleased with his temperament.

Are you only looking in the U.S.?  Or do you want something different?

I like that male. Is he here in the US or in Germany? I have always like the Haus Iris dogs. I have noticed that Trux produces some nice dogs.

I have met Ernie in person when he was about 10 months old. I liked him then. I want to breed both my females to titled males though.
