If many in our breed can agree with this statement, we would all have to give up expecting any sense or reason to apply to any Judge. unacceptable.

hello all

I must comment on the show it was great day and the organisation was brillant , The Irish showed us all how it should be done.

Thank you very much Shamrock on your comments on Ferdinand  it brought a tear to my eye as he was so like Uri and its 20 years now since Tisn't got her first CC at two day Ireland same venue.

As for judge I liked what he did in general but did not agree with every decision but as I always say its very difficult and I respect his opinion  he is a well respected judge in Germany, And placed what he thought were the best animals on the day.

Cannot please everybody !!!!!  but most of the dogs  at the show were of a very high standard  which makes it a really good show also.

My congratulations to Both CC winners and to res CC female.

and not fogetting all other class placements well done.

And I was really pleased with our girl Farina as it was her first  show and placed 3rd in a very good class just needs more training.

Once again WELL DONE everybody who took part

I thought this years 2 day show was well organised, great size ring and the Irish hospitality  is second to none. No I didn't agree with all the Judges decisions but that's the norm. If he where judging here again our dogs would be entered. I thought the overall quality of animals was the highest I have seen in a long time and the majorty of the dogs where presented in excellent condition.

Congratulations to both CC and res CC winners, also best puppy in Show I thought all these animals where worthy of thier awards.

We are very proud of the success our kennel had at the show, but what made it so special for us was the comments recieved from other exhibitors.

Fiona that was the first time I had seen Ferdinand and what a super young male he is.

So far the thread was going well.

I am sure David is disappointed Ice didn't win his group but it was a group of excellent males and my interpretation of his comments was one of a person simply voicing an opinion on the judges decisions on a general basis and not specifically relating to his own entry. Surely he is entitled to an opinion wiithout the sour grapes issues and comments of trying to buy success. The breed in the UK owes a lot to David and others like him whose imports have introduced many excellent and much needed qualities to the breed in the UK. Sorry but that is just my opinion for what it is worth. Please lets continue the thread without any personal jibes.

John.

Thank you John

Indeed my comments were directed to the disparity of the Judges comments and decisions on a general basis. I specifically congratulated many winners, and particularly the male CC & RCC winners. At a large gathering on the evening of the final day, Sunday, during dinner, I was requested to make a speech, there were well over 20 GSD folk present and I am sure they are well aware of my views on the show and the principle winners.

Personal jibes from people of no consequence will always be made, especially from jealous and envious people who lack the courage to identify themselves.

A super show, very well organised and executed!! Anyone that has been on show committees will know the time and work that goes into this sort of event, very well done, GSD Club of NI.

Congratulations to all exhibitors, not just the winners, as the quality throughout the classes was extremely high, it was a real showcase of German Shepherds at their best, I know from speaking to the judge afterwards that he was more than impressed with the quality of shepherds presented, I think we should all be very proud.

I completely understand your comments on the 2 day judge - and agree for the most part.  Perhaps my wording was a bit too generalised. But in light of the calibre of judges that we have witnesses over the last 12 months or more - would you not agree that what we need (in order to boost entries as has been discussed to death recently) judges who are less 'predictable', less 'political' and less... well.... 'corrupt' perhaps judges on our shores.

I made the point that I did not agree with some of the placings - and he did make points which he then seemed to forget all about in his final placings - but a judge who does 'his own thing' would always be a far more welcome addition than a judge who has, lets say, told an owner prior to a show where his CC is going - or placed only his friends, or promoted dogs to his own benefit???

Ice - for me, is the best adult male in the country at present.  His performance at North Eastern & West Yorks in particular - electric. He is produced time and time again in immaculate condition and fitness (a real credit to his trainers).  IMO he has been judged by people inside and outside the ring on many occasions and rightly or wrongly will have his admirers and those who cant manage/ or dont admire the dog.  I use him only as an example - to say WE CANT ALL AGREE, or there would be no showing!

Yes - there is a standard to which we should all adhere - but how a dog fits thats standard is purely the opinion of each individual.

We pay to find out the judges opinion - if we present our dogs we must take it on the chin.

Your comments re Videx where uncalled for.

Videx

You had every right to feel somewhat disgruntled with Ice's final place although I have no problem with the open dog winner and thought the quality of the males present in the class was very high. I personally felt that Ice was in top condition and moved superbly having been pulled out first after the individules he did absolutely nothing wrong to warrent the second dog going over him.

Ice has always been shown in top class condition and is a credit to his owners,Trainers and Handler.

JOZOLLI

I thank you for coming back with your last comments; it seriously affected my feelings, something many people believe I do not have.

I can only agree with ALL of what you have wrote, joking apart, and taking OUT what you have wrote about Ice, the rest of your comments are 100% accurate and I fully agree with you, my dream for our breed is for the VAST majority to genuinely feel the same.

Linda B

Thank you also for your comments above, please be aware, if you are not already, that I admired several of your entries, and certainly your success, at this Show, i freely expressed my praise to several people, and also my opinion that your Kennel Group gave a close run to be FIRST, however I felt it was clearly SECOND.

I adored the Bitch CC winner, and of course the Bitch RCC winner, I thoroughly enjoyed the whole Show, and the whole week-end.

My only disappointment was the WRONG comment from the Judge regarding my male’s hind soundness, which was and is completely and utterly INCORRECT. - Every Judge who has awarded Ice his CC's - and there are SIX of them, have no doubt about his firmness of hocks.

I am aware that some Judges, may refer to unsoundness, or loose elbows, or a slightly light eye, or a dog being somewhat cow-hocked, in order to justify there judging decisions. –
I WILL ONLY EVER BE CONVINCED OF SUCH FAULTS WITH MY OWN EYES, OR THE OPINION OF THOSE I KNOW AND TRUST.

David & Sharon, Andrew Connolly and Brian Wadlow) and myself, received a huge number of compliments and commiserations for Ice, so much so that we felt on top of the World, believe me when I say, our fellow GSD enthusiasts, present at the Show, more than made up for any disappointment we may have felt, and for that we all sincerely thank you.

Finally I compliment EVERY winner, and EVERY entry, for making it one of the BEST shows I have attended in a very long time.
