Every male and female out of Dieter , my PIrol v Enclavehof son has black spots on their tongues and in the roof of mouth..

Dieters mom was  a daughter of V Jada v Steffen Haus and there are only black/reds in those pedigrees...very heavy pigmentation

Yep, the black spot on the tongue is a good sign.  It usually signifies great pigment and vitality.  The old breeders used to say diluted pigment, deficient health.  Dark pigment means robust constitution of the GSD.  It's amazing how much incorrect information is out there about GSDs even held by supposed GSD experts and Vets.  I always like to see the black spot on the tongue.  It's a good sign.

Does anyone know where the black or purple should I say, tongue on the Chow Chow
originated from........................

All domestic dogs have a combination of other dogs that make up these purebreds, it would be interesting
to know how the Chow Chow evolved.........................

My Czech line female has a black spot as does my female from Ursus/Fleischeirheim lines. My American lines - no spots on them.

Just curious those of you who bred your black spot tongue dogs- did the pups have spots on their tongues from birth or did they develop over time as many other pigment issues develop?

The old gentlemen is right about black on the tongue .Back in the early sixtys when i was a small child i remember my grandfather saying black on the tongue makes a desirable intelligent dog and ha mentioned something to do with some dog generations back who was a great dog in germany .and the black spots came from this dog .
