Just re-read that warning, and I guess I don't think it should be used at ALL, if it can cause organ damage, due to "repeated or prolonged exposure"!!!! yipes!

I have recently heard that jeyes fluid can also be very harmful to our dogs, has anyone else heard this or knows as i use it occasionally

During our 30+ years in GSD we have tried and used most methods of sanitizing our kennels and connected areas, including bleach, jeyes fluid, various disinfectants, and combinations fo cleaner/disinfectants, however we are delighted with our current solution to this very important subject, SAFE4 disinfectant and related products. see here http://www.safe4disinfectant.com/safe4disinfectant/
This product range is excellent for our requirenments.

Melanie,
Thank you for sharing this great info, I was just looking into Odoban, you saved me some headaches! I was just dealing with the whole bleach thing as well and was looking into an alternative less harsh.
Dave & Rhoda, is there a distributor here in the states for Safe4?
Thanks,
Greg

I looked at the safe4 site also. Can't seem to find what the ingredients are anywhere. Would be helpful to know what chemicals they're using.

I suggest that anyone interested in Safe4 contact them directly, they have distributers in several European countries, maybe they also have one or more in the USA. You may also ask any pertinent questions regarding chemicals etc.

I would add that we are NOT in anyway commercially connected with Safe4 - We just use their excellent products and pay normal prices - NO DISCOUNTS, BONUS'S OR INCENTIVES WHATSOEVER

Thanks for the info on the bleach I have used it many times. I will not be using bleach anymore.
Thanks Marty

Marty,
Okay to use bleach outdoors, just not inside, and keep the dogs away until it's dry. :) It IS a very good way to get rid of bacteria.

chlorhexidine is an excellent and very safe disinfectant. We actually use chlorhexidine, which is sold under many names, directly on dog bowls, kennels and in some cases to clean skin abrasions or demodex cases.
