Once the "official" OFA is complete at 2-years of age it is done and over with. You don't have to go back and do it again.  Prelims are just for you and don't count as official results.

The other options is the German SV "a" stamp program.  It's the German version of OFA except can be done after the dog reaches 12-months old.

We do not use PennHip as it's not fully recognized yet.  We will send our girls x-rays to the SV for "a" stamp ratings as they can be dual registered after passing that.  Our male that cannot be dual registered we had OFA evaluation done, he was "Good".

Ok, so if I wanted to get his hips done now, at 1 year of age, would my vet be able to do the SV?  If not, now do I get that done?

Marci, I remember the story.......

SW, here is the link on the GSCDA-WDA site regarding "a" stamp.  If you want something official now you could go this route.  As your boy is not imported from Germany I personnaly would also do the OFA when he reaches 2-years.   The "a" stamp means more for SV registered dogs I believe.  However it is an officially recognized option that should not be overlooked.
