Ten month old female pregnant....Labor started?? - Page 9

She had three puppies last night, the labor was pretty easy she did it all her self.

Congrats...
but it's almost impossible she became pregnant at Juni 12. How do the pups look like? Any guesses about the sire?

Happy news ! Still some unanswered questions, though ...

Assuming your female was bred just the one time, on June 12th, all I can say is you are VERY lucky to have a healthy, alive bitch, let alone healthy, living puppies--especially with a miniature breed, which often experience uterine dystocia [exhaustion] during whelping under normal conditions. I urge you to have both your female and the pups examined by your vet ASAP to ensure that there are no physical defects in the pups, and that your female expelled all placental materials normally as well. Your bitch did NOT have a normal pregnancy and partuition by any definition, and you need to be sure she is going to remain healthy and capable of feeding the pups, as well as being sure the puppies themselves are normal and there are no cleft palates, esophageal strictures or internal abnormalities such as liver or cardiac shunts.

For future reference, do NOT allow a pregnancy to go beyond 70 days without having the bitch examined by a veterinarian. Failure to do so is more likely to result in not only the loss of any viable puppies, but it will often lead to the death of the bitch, too. Fetuses will continue to develop in utero past their due date if certain hormonal events do not occur to trigger labor, and certain fetal defects can interfere with that hormonal release sequence--which results in oversized pups at best, and in fetal death followed by uterine infection and possible death of the bitch at worst.

The (supposed) length of this pregnancy also raises the question, was your female maybe bred more than once? And could she have been bred by a male other than the mini-pin you saw her tied with?

When do we get pictures? :)

Hi, I took them to the vet the morning they were born, the vet said all was well. They look all mini pin, and she couldn't have bred again because after that I kept her inside and on a leash. I'm not sure how to post a photo...

Very happy to hear that both mama and pups got a clean bill of health from the vet! Looking forward to seeing pictures of the little ones...are all three the same sex, did you get both male and female pups?
